BCG Matrix

This document summarizes Apple's products in a BCG matrix with four categories: Stars, Question Marks, Cash Cows, and Dogs. iPhones and iPads are classified as Stars due to continually breaking sales records with new models. Apple TV is a Question Mark with potential if ecosystem issues are addressed. IMacs, iTunes, and MacBooks are Cash Cows that increase cash flow while retaining market share. iPods and Apple TV cable services are Dogs that failed to have an impact due to competition and demand issues.

Summary of Findings/Analysis
Stars
The company's stars in the Apple BCG market are iPhones and iPads, as seen by the fact that
every time a new model is produced, existing sales records are shattered. Apple phones are well-
known for their unique design and cutting-edge technology. Furthermore, the phone has a large
customer base, allowing it to dominate the booming mobile phone industry.

Question Mark
Apple is presently releasing Apple TVs, which might become a question mark in the company's
SCG matrix. This gadget earns some money, but it is still far from its full potential. If Apple can
overcome a few ecosystem issues, it has the potential to become a huge success. The second
product with a question mark is the Apple TV, which is still in its early phases of development.

Cash Cows
Three products are cash cows in the Apple BCG matrix. These include the IMac, iTunes, and
MacBooks from Apple. These products have increased the company's cash flow while retaining
its market share. Apple has a strong and committed fan following that solely buys its products.

Dogs
Apple iPod and TV cable services are the company's dogs. When they were first released on the
market, they were thought to be a huge product, but they ultimately failed to make an effect
owing to excessive competition and poor client demand.
1 Based on the BCG Matrix you created, how does it help derive strategic investment decision?
The BCG matrix helps Apple in identifying new growth prospects and determining how to invest
in the future. It also examines its items to determine whether they are low-growth, high-selling,
high-growth, or high-selling but low-growth. In the BCG market, they will be referred to as
dogs, stars, cash cows, and the question mark. BCG matrix may assist Apple in expanding or
growing their firm so that it is more well-known throughout the world due to the attractiveness of
their products, which can encourage many people to purchase them by establishing a long-term
strategy.
