To enhance the socio-economic status of public teachers - Married Teachers - Academic Freedom - 6 hours not more than 8 hours teaching time - OT 25% - Gradual Progression/Step Increment every 3 years - Special Hardship Allowance (SHA) 25% - Annual Medical Check-up - Study Leave – after 7 years of service (60% of salary) - Should pass at least 75% of your enrolled subject in graduate school. - Indefinite Leave – More than 1-year gamutan - Salary Grade Increase upon Retirement 2. PD 1006 – Decree Professionalizing Teaching (1976) - Examiners – P5 – 18,000 salaries - Professional Board Examination for Teachers (PBET) Passing score = 70% with no rating 50% in any subject (Present 75 %) - NBT (National Board for Teachers) - Within 150 days (Present 120 days) - Professional Teaching Certificate = Evidence - Registration Reciprocity for Foreigner - No Certificate – No Practice - Fine (P1000 – P5000)/ (Imprisonment of 6 months – 2 years) - No License
3. RA 7836 – Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994
- regulation of the Teaching Profession - Licensure Examination for Teacher - Certificate = Board: License=PRC - Board for Professional Teachers o 5 Members Chairman Vice Chairman 3 Members o The members of the board shall be appointed by the President of the Philippines o List of Nominees o APO (Accredited Professional Organization) o NOPTI - (National Organization for Professional Teacher Incorporated) Duties and Functions of the Board Determine and fix the frequency, dates, and places of examination, appoint supervisors, proctors, and other personnel as needed. Issue, suspend, or revoke the certificate of registration for the practice of the teaching profession; Prescribe and/or adopt a code of ethical and professional standards for the practice of the teaching profession Administer oaths Section 18 Oath Before Practice Qualifications for Board of Professional Teachers 1. Citizen and Resident of Philippines 2. At least 35 years of age 3. Good Moral Character 4. Not convicted of any crime (pending cases can still be a part of the board) 5. Graduate of Education Course 6. Preferably Master’s/Doctors Degree Holder 7. Valid Professional License and Valid COR 8. At least 10 years of Teaching Experience in Elem and High School Levels only 9. NO Pecuniary interest for at least 3 years in Tertiary Level or any school that offers educational course 10.Member of APO and NOPTI 11.Not affiliated with a review center Article III, Section 13 – Examination and Registration A citizen of the Philippines or an alien whose country has reciprocity with the Philippines in the practice of the teaching profession At least 18 years of age. In good health and of good reputation with high moral values Has not been convicted by final Judgment. Applicant for LET - For teachers in preschool, (BECED) - For Teachers in the elementary grades (BSEED) - For teachers in the secondary grades, a bachelor’s degree in education or its equivalent with a major and minor, or a bachelor’s degree in arts and sciences with at least (10) units on professional education (Present 18 units) - For teachers of vocational and two-year technical courses, a bachelor’s degree in the field of specialization or its equivalent with at least 18 units of professional education. - 120 days report of the results of the examination - Section 17.
