This process transformed the cone geometry panels briefed by the architect (Step 1) into as close to
cylindrical panels as possible which, in turn, saved cost. We analysed different cylinders (Step 2) –
measuring their radius, orientation, and position – to find the best fitting. We then looked at how much
this deviated from the original cone (Step 3) where corners are usually the toughest measurement to
match. Finally, we placed the optimised cylinders back into the building model (Step 4) to find a very
small deviation which would not be noticeable to the eye.
