Individual & Individual-Dual Sports

Individual Sports refers to any sports played by one person against

number of solo players, the player competes singly, and winning is

Individual-Dual Sports refers to any sports played by one person


against another person so that there are two opposing players in the

The Individual-Dual Sports has three categories:

Combat Sports
contact fighting sports,e.g. Martial Arts
Racquet Sports
use of rackets to hit the ball or an object, e.g. Lawn Tennis
Board Games
played on tabletop and involves pieces moved or placed, e.g. Chess Although some
examples are recreational games as well.

EFREN “BATA” REYES

A Filipino professional pool player is Efren Manalang Reyes,


OLD, PLH (born August 26, 1954), nicknamed
The Magician and Bata. A winner of over 80 international titles,
Reyes was the first player to win world championships in two
different disciplines in the pool.

Gambling from a young age, Reyes played three-cushion


billiards in the 1960s and 1970s. After establishing himself as a
winner, he was discovered by promoters. This gave him the
opportunity to compete in big-time tournaments.

RAFAEL "PAENG" NEPOMUCENO


Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno is a six-time World Bowling Champion
and is acknowledged worldwide as the greatest international bowler of all
time. He has been honored by the Guinness Book of World Records four
times and has three unbroken records up to this date.
1.For being the youngest World Tenpin bowling champion
2.For winning the most Bowling World Cups won in three different
decades
3 For winning the most worldwide titles in a career.

LYDIA DE VEGA

Lydia de Vega considered as Asia’s multi titles sprint queen and


fastest woman in the 80’s and early 90’s.
As a 16-year-old, she broke the Asian record in the women’s 200
meter on her way to clinching the gold in the 1981 SEA Games. She also won
the gold in the 400-meter event.
A two-time Olympian, she was not only an elite sprinter but also a star
athlete, recognized by the entire sports world, her influence extending even
beyond sports. She was the most recognizable sportswoman of the country
in the 1980s.
Carlos Yulo

Carlos Yulo is a Filipino gymnast who became


the first male athlete in Southeast Asia to win a gold
medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics
Championships in 2019, when he won for the men's
floor exercise.

His debut appearance at the 2019 Southeast


Asian Games also earned Yulo two gold and five
silver medals. He qualified him to the 2020 Summer
Olympics in Tokyo.

HIDILYN DIAZ

Filipino weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz earned the


nation's first-ever gold medal during the Olympic
Tokyo Games, ending the Philippines 97-year
gold-less streak.

Diaz dominated the women's weightlifting


121 pounds at the Tokyo Olympics. She finished
by lifting an Olympic record 280 pounds.

Warm-up. Let’s perform short body stretching exercises guided by the following set

Arnis
Arnis is the official national sport and the martial art of
the Philippines. It is also known as "Kali" or "Eskrima".
These two terms are used for the traditional martial art
of the Philippines (“Filipino Martial Arts”, or “FMA”)
that focuses on weapon-based fighting with knives,
sticks, bladed weapons and some improvised
weapons. Arnis is a combat sport to defend oneself
from attacks using hand to hand combat, grappling
and weapon disarming in weapon-based fights.

The word Arnis got originated from the old Spanish term, arnés,
meant “armor”and Eskrima is a Filipinization of the Spanish
word, esgrima for fencing. Whereas the name ‘Kali’ was derived from
the pre-Hispanic Filipano term ‘Kalis’ which meant Blades and Fencing
History Practitioners of the sport are called “arnisador” for male and
“arnisadora” for female in Arnis and “eskrimador” for male and
“eskrimadora” for female in the Eskrima and Kali Art.
Moreover, all the three, Arnis, Eskrima and Kali belong to the same
family of Filipino weapon-based martial arts and fighting systems.

ATBSNO

The Baston (Spanish and Filipino for "cane") which varies in


size, but is usually about 28 inches (71 cm) in length is one
of the primary weapons of Arnis and Filipino martial arts.
It must not have sharp edges or pointed ends. It is also
known as yantok, olisi, palo, pamalo, garrote, caña, cane,
arnis stick, eskrima stick or simply, stick. Common wooden
materials are rattan, kamagong, and bahi.

SMTA

Gives comfort during training and deminstration. Additional


padding between the floor and body.

AEHD AERG

Refers to a pair of protective head gear to include an impact


worthy face mask, the specifications of which shall be in
accordance with the i-Arnis standard. Must be color-coded,
one red and the other blue, to match the
padded stick of the player.

DADPDE TKISC

It shall be the official weapon of the player. The specification of


which shall be accordance with the i-Arnis standard.
