located adjacent to New upcoming High Court in Vivek Vihar Yojana, in Jodhpur.
CHAPTER 2: BACKGROUND OF TYPOLOGY

EARLY HISTORY OF JODHPUR :-

Jodhpur history revolves around the Rathore Clan. Rao Jodha, the chief of the Rathore
clan, is credited with the origin of Jodhpur in India. He founded Jodhpur in 1459. The
city is named after him only. It was previously known as Marwar.
The Rathores were driven out of their original homeland, Kaunaj, by Afghans. They fled to Pali, near to
the present day Jodhpur. Rathore Siahaji married the sister of a local prince. This helped the Rathores to
establish and strengthen themselves in this region. In some time they ousted the Pratiharas of Mandore,
just 9 km from Jodhpur. Initially, Mandore served as their capital, but, by 1459, Rathores felt a need for a
secure capital. This leads to the formation of Jodhpur, the Sun City, by Rao Jodha.

During the British Raj, the state of Jodhpur was the largest in Rajputana, by land area. Jodhpur prospered
under the British Raj. Its merchants, the Marwaris, flourished endlessly. They came to occupy a dominant
position in trade throughout India. In 1947 India became independent and the state merged into the union
of India. Jodhpur became the second city of Rajasthan.

Eventually, the clan ousted the Pratiharas, who were the rulers of Mandore, an important settlement just a
short distance away. They established their capital at Mandore for a time, but as needs for a more secure
location arose, the site of Jodhpur - or the 'Sun City' - was chosen by Rao Jodha.

With the exception of Aurangzeb, the Rathores maintained good relations with the Mughals: in fact,
Maharaja Jaswant Singh supported Shahjahan when he struggled for succession to the throne. After the
death of Aurangzeb, Maharaja Ajit Singh forced the Mughals from Ajmer, and annexed the land to
Marwar (as Jodhpur was known at that time). During the reign of Maharaja Umed Singh, Jodhpur
prospered, developing into a modern city.

Jodhpur was the largest state in Rajputana in terms of land area at the time of the British Raj, and it
continued to prosper, as did the Marwaris, who were the merchants of that time. When India achieved
independence in 1947, the state joined the union of India, and became part of the largest state of
Rajasthan, with Jodhpur being its second-largest city.

NEED OF THE ACTIVITY :-

Hotels are definitely one of the fastest-growing sectors in the tourism sector and it is truly justified as
accommodation is the key part in the development of any country or region's tourism. Tourism and Hotel
Industry always go hand in hand and the presence of enough hotels also adds value and quite a lot of
factors and punches it within the region's economy. The Existence of a Hotel isn't enough to single-
handedly boost a region's tourism but they also give out a symptom of health tourism.

THERE SOME IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THE HOTEL INDUSTRY ARE AS :-

 It generates Income
 It generates employment
 It is a source of foreign exchange earnings
 Developing Infrastructure
 It promotes peace & stability
 Increases government revenue
 It improves the quality of life of locals
 It provides recreational facilities

ARCHITECTURAL IMPLCIATIONS :-

 MATERIALS
 DESIGNING FACADES
 HIGH-END FACILITIES WITH SERVICING
 HIGH QUALITY AMBIENCE
 ATMOSPHERE CREATED WITHIN SPACES

SOCIAL ASPECT :-

It lifts and drives straightforwardly the development business. Also, in the event that we delve into
subtleties of the relative multitude of items or things that are utilized in inns, cafés, and so on and make a
complete rundown then there would be many little medium and large enterprises or areas which
straightforwardly or by implication advantage from this industry.

The main social trends affecting luxury hotels include the use of fast communication methods like the
internet. This affects marketing and booking activities. Aging populations, emigrant homecomings,
environmental concerns, cultural diversity preference and emerging markets are also shaping the luxury
hotel industry. These facilities must alter their services in order to meet the needs of their customers and
to gain a competitive edge.
