MODULE 2 ASSESSMENT TASK

1. When volcanoes erupt, they disturb our ecosystems. We have learned in this
Module that ecosystems are composed of biotic factors (living things) and abiotic
factors (non-living things).

In your own words, answer the following questions.

a) How does volcanic eruption affect producers? 5 points

For the side of producers they will probably die in this situation because volcanic
eruptions contain ashfall and lava that will lead to stop their improving to growth
and also the soil, water, air are contaminated.

b) How does volcanic eruption affect consumers? 5 points

For the side of consumers it would be hard to find food and difficult to survive
because the producers are no longer useful to them causing of contaminated
environment. They will probably go to another place to hunt food and look for
new places to move where is safe and have resources and the effect of this is a
hassle and difficult to survive.

c) How does volcanic eruption affect the biotic factors (all the living things in
general)? 5 points

The impact of a volcanic eruption on the biotic factors is losing their own life
because volcanic eruption has additional effects such as floods, magnitude,
water contamination, wildfires, landslides, and other events. It will also affect their
daily living from abundance to poverty because all their sources to live are lost.

d) How does volcanic eruption affect the abiotic factors (our environment in
general)? 5 points

The impact of a volcanic eruption on the abiotic factors is changing the posture of
our environment because many structures will destroy included our nature and it
will cause global warming.

2. For question number 2, please refer to the diagram below.

a) In the diagram above, which one is the decomposer?
Why are decomposers important in an ecosystem? 5 points

The decomposer is the eagle which is the last consumer of the diagram.
When the eagle dies fungi or other living organisms will enter the body
and turn them into nutrients and the one that will benefit is our
environment.

b) Identify the primary consumers in the diagram above.

What do they consume? 2.5 points

The primary consumers in the diagram are worm, butterfly, rabbit, squirrel
because they start to produce to gain nutrients.
c) Identify the tertiary consumer in the diagram.
What does this consumer eat? 2.5 points

The Tertiary Consumer is an Eagle which is the animal that consumes

secondary consumers through primary consumers and lastly through the
producers.

3. Search for the word “niche” or “ecological niche”. Define “niche” in your own
words. 10 points.

For my own understanding "niche" is a place where your status in life is

maintained and where you can elevate and extend your own life skills. I will relate
it to animals, plants, and living organisms that are accurate to our study because
once they become comfortable with their surroundings and attain enough
resources they will stay, and proclaimed that this is their habitat to live in.

4. What happens when two or more organisms coexist in the same niche. What will
happen if organisms share the same niche? 10 points

When two organisms coexist in the same “niche” they probably would be
competing with each other and the negative side effect is they can quarrel for
resources and start harming each other. For the positive effect, they can protect
each other from living organisms or other species that they will face in their lives.
