INFANT BATHING PROCEDURE

Good morning mam/sir, I am Lavier Nacion, today I am going to perform INFANT BATHING PROCEDURE.

The Scenario: The infant is a week old.

PROCEDURES:

 First: Determine the infant physical development and size.


 Gather the necessary equipments needed and arrange them accordingly (such as baby liquid soap, basin, and
other paraphernalia.)
 Wash hand.
 Identify the infant and explain the procedure to the mother.
 Fill the basin with water and place it in a firm surface. Then check the water temperature by using your elbow.
 Partially undress the infant and check the condition by taking temperature rectally.
 Wrap the infant with a bath towel; clean infants face, eyes (inner and outer contour), nose, forehead, down to
the chin with the S motion, mouth, gums, and ears.
 Then pat dry.
 Hold the infant with a football hold with the head over the basin. Shampoo in circular motion.
 Then pat dry gently.
 Totally undress the infant to the basin. Wash the infants’ body paying attention to the skin folds and genitals.
 Then pat dry to the towel.
 Diaper and redress the infant. Do a cord care if necessary.
 Place the infant to the crib with a safety precaution or offer the infant to the mother for feeding.
 Return all the equipments.
 Clean the area.
 Wash hand.
 Do the documentation.

The procedure is done.
