CHAPTER I

Description of the Business

The Papayalicious business will distribute and sell food to

customers, providing them with a delicious and healthy variety of

papaya-based foods. Papayalicious will be located in San Remigio,

Cebu, specifically at Lapyahan, where many people come to enjoy

the scenery while eating something to feel more in the moment.

Papaya was chosen as the main ingredient of food products since

it is abundant in our locality and many people don’t know that

you can make a variety of delicious foods out of papaya, wherein

it is also good for those who are health conscious. Since papaya

is organic, abundant in our locality, and has many benefits to

our health, it is a great snack in any season.

The best recipes for launching this papayalicious venture

will be demonstrated. Furthermore, papaya is a nutritious fruit

that is rich in vitamins A and C, as well as fiber and

antioxidants. By incorporating papaya into food products, you can

offer customers a healthy and flavorful option which can be used

in a variety of food products, including juices, smoothies,

salads, salsas, and desserts. This versatility allows you to

create a diverse range of products that can appeal to a wide

range of customers.
Location of the Business

Location is our first consideration in setting up a

business. Choosing a right location will increase the chance of

our business to succeed. Poblacion, San Remigio has a wide number

of population, making it an appropriate place for the business to

locate.

The business will be located near beaches of San Remigio,

where many people go to relax and have fun. Aside from that, the

business will be close to a road, making it visible to those

people passing by. The business will open branches in places

where people go to have fun and relax. Offering the potential

customer’s the best quality of products and a good customer

service allows the business to easily gain customers, sell its

products, and receive good feedbacks which makes it possible for

a business to be successful.

Funding Requirements and Source of Funds

The start-up cost of papaya-based food products will depend

on several factors such as the scale of production, the type of

product, and the equipment and ingredients needed.

1. Equipment 25,000

2. Raw materials 20,000

3. Legal fees 3,000

4. Land ( monthly rent ) 2,000

5. Utilities expense 1,500

6. Labor cost (monthly) 12,000

7. Furniture and Fixtures 3,000

8. Total cost 66,500

As for the source of funds, the personal savings of the

owners of a business will be used in order to operate and start

the business. This is because it can be difficult for the

business to obtain funding from traditional sources, such as

banks and investors, without a track record of success. Using

personal savings as a source of funds allows the owners to

maintain control over the business that can increase their

confidence in the business’s potential.

Waste Disposal Treatment

There are several ways to dispose of our product depending

on the quantity of waste.

Composting: Papaya waste, including the peel and seeds, can

be composted to create nutrient-rich soil for gardening. The

waste should be mixed with other organic materials like leaves,

grass, and kitchen scraps, and allowed to decompose over time.

Animal Feed: Papaya waste can also be fed to animals like

chickens, pigs, and cows. The fruit and seeds can be chopped up

and mixed with other feed to provide additional nutrients.

Biogas Production: Papaya waste can be used as a substrate

in biogas production, where it is broken down by microorganisms

to produce methane gas. The gas can be used for cooking, heating,

or electrical generation.

Landfill Disposal: If other options are not available,

papaya waste can be disposed of in a landfill. However, this

should be considered a last resort, as it does not contribute to

the sustainability of the environment.

be a strategic move that offers numerous benefits. With high foot

traffic, a targeted demographic of health-conscious and active

new customers. Additionally, the beautiful scenery and positive

association with fresh, natural products can enhance the overall

customer experience and foster customer loyalty. However, it’s

Cost-plus pricing

In our papaya snacks business, we can use a cost-plus

pricing strategy to ensure that we are pricing our products

competitively while also maintaining profitability. By carefully

overhead expenses, and other expenses, we can add a markup to

arrive at a selling price that covers our costs and provides us

with a profit margin. This strategy provides us with transparency

in our pricing, helping to build trust with our customers. We can

also adjust our markup based on market demand, competition, and

other factors, giving us the flexibility to remain competitive

while staying profitable. Overall, the cost-plus pricing strategy

can help our papaya snacks business achieve financial

sustainability and growth while providing our customers with

transparent and fair pricing.

value of our products to our customers. By understanding our

customers’ needs, preferences, and willingness to pay, we can set

prices that align with the value they perceive from our papaya

snacks. This approach can help us differentiate our products from

competitors and capture a higher profit margin. Additionally, as

papaya snacks are often seen as a healthier and more natural
