Aufa Mutiara Kholishah - 202012500667

On October 27th, We are from group 2 consisting of Aufa Mutiara Kholishah, Mirza Royhamdan
Nazar, and M. Alif Maulana from R5G class decided to visit the Monas (National Monument) as
an intensive writing assignment. We chose this tourist destination to be used as assignment
material because the National Monument is the most famous icon in the city of Jakarta and has
a lot of history not only about Jakarta, but also Indonesia.
In the morning, Aufa and Roy make an appointment to meet at Gondangdia station at 9 AM.
Aufa was waiting for Roy because she was the first to arrive at Gondangdia station. After Roy
reached the station, he and Aufa took a walk to Lenggang Jakarta. They were waiting for Alif
while strolling around 1.5 kilometers to Lenggang Jakarta because Alif was taking Transjakarta
there. After they had gathered, they boarded the odong-odong, a facility from Monas for the
tourists to access to Monas's yard.
Lenggang Jakarta is a food court area (also known as a hawker centre), which is operated in
areas of Monas and Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia. The first food court was built in Monas
area, which was known at the time as IR-TI parking. The area was revitalized and inaugurated as
a food court on 22 May 2015. This place accommodated small traders and street vendors who
roam around the Monas area. The price of food sold at this food court ranges from Rp 15,000
to Rp 40,000 with a non-cash payment system, instead of using electronic banking. This venue
features beverage vending facilities, toilets, disability toilets, free WiFi, and 350 kiosks,
including both food and souvenirs.
We had to purchase a card to enter the Monas building when we got to the underground
entrance to the ticket window. The Jakcard is a brown credit card with a 35 thousand rupiah
cost. We were only permitted to enter the Monas building after obtaining the Jakcard. The
museum, the cawan, the independence room, and the top of the monument are the 4 parts of
Monas that can be visited. A diorama and explanation text about Indonesian history from the
Stone Age to the Modern Era are displayed on four lined walls of the museum. Above the
museum there was an independence room located inside the cup, where there were attributes
of independence such as a map of Indonesia, the symbol of Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and a gate
displaying a copy of the text of the proclamation of Indonesian independence. Besides that, we
also went up the stairs to the cawan. On the cawan, we could see the beautiful view of the city
of Jakarta. But unfortunately, we didn't go up to visit the top of the monas monument, because
the queue was too crowded.
After we were all fed up with Monas and started to crave some food, we decided to leave. We
left Monas at noon and met up with Aryanto, Nova, and Darma in National Library. We all took
photos and explored the library. Even though it is a weekday, the library is still very crowded
with students, we can't even go up to another floor by lift because it's too crowded. Because it
was too crowded, everyone was hungry. Aryanto and Darma got assignments to do, they said
"we'll stay for a while to take some photos and explore another floor by lift and we'll meet you
guys later." After that, we left the library and headed to Gambir Station to find some food and
rest. When we arrived at Gambir Station, Aufa, Nova, and Roy immediately ran into the
Minimart. Alif stayed outside because he had taken his stash. While we ate and took a rest, we
contacted the National Museum group (AryaDimas, Sabrina, Farah) to meet up with us in
Gambir Station. After a while, the National Museum group came, followed by Aryanto and
Darma, who had already done the assignment. At Gambir Station, we talked about our personal
opinions of the place we visited and chit-chatted for a bit. Before we all went way to go home,
Aufa suggested taking a tour with the city bus tour. We all agreed to Aufa's idea and went with
it before going home. We took the city bus tour and had fun there talking about our day going
by. We took off the bus at Tosari Halte and headed off to Sudirman Station and went home.
