Foreword

This Self Learning Kit (SLK) is duly


prepared for the Grade – 6 pupils to let them
demonstrate time signatures; two-four, three four,
four-four and six-eight with sample songs by each
beat. This help and aid pupils for them to
enhance their knowledge in the world of music
for music is life as well.

On the other hand, in addition to what


you have partially known when you were in
grade-5, we are preparing you to undertake the
different aspects pertaining to the targeted aim
of this Self-Learning Kit.

Now, let us walk through this material


and start to enjoy the wonders of this kit.

2. What to know?

Time signature is an
indication of rhythm following a
clef generally expressed as a
fraction with the denominator
defining the beat as a division
of a whole note and the
numerator giving the number of
beats in each bar.
In executing the time
signature two four, by the use
of your hands, drop your hand
first in downward direction,
then carry your hand upward as
if you are walking at normal
pace or interval. Count one.

downward direction then blue
in an upward direction. Use a
hand only to have a good result
upon beating.

Exercise 2 (Tuesday) The three-four
time signature. The same process of
what you did in exercise 1, it is color-
coded for you to easily interprete the
time signature. Red-down, blue-slide to
the right, then green-upward, count one,
two,three as shown below.

Perform by demonstrating the time signature three-four
while singing the “Paruparung Bukid”.

Exercise 3 (Wednesday). Partly, this
exercise is a continuation, as it is color-
coded as shown below.

Execute by using your hand. Red-downward, Blue-mid-upward left,


Green-across to the right then Pink-upward, count one, two, three,
Four… Sing together with our national hymn.

reading the colors represented by
numbers below. Use only one hand.

SYNOPSIS

Music alone shall live, let us always


remember that time signature plays a vital role
before singing maybe done. By the use of our hands
we may able to demonstrate the different time
signature as to two-four, three-four, four-four and six-
eight with corresponding sample songs serve as
accompaniment.

Now that you have finished this activity, I


am hoping that the knowledge you have just acquired
will be useful as we go along in the world of music.
