ABSTRACT

A bio composite is a material formed by a matrix and a reinforcement

of natural fibers like jute, coir, sisal, pineapple, ramie, bamboo, banana and

bagasse, etc., Recently, banana fiber is being used as a reinforcement material in

the development of reinforced plastics for various engineering application. Its

bio degradability, low cost, low density, eco-friendly and moderate Thermal

properties make it a preferable reinforcement material in the development of

polymer matrix composites. Therefore, banana fiber reinforced composites have

replaced the most reinforced composites have replaced the most widely used

synthetic fiber (glass and Kevlar) reinforced composites in many applications.

In the present experimental endeavour, banana fiber-epoxy reinforced

composites were prepared using compression moulding process. The weight

percentage of the banana fiber reinforcement was varied as 0, 5, 10, 15 and

20%. The sample were prepared into required ASTM standard for Thermal test

such as TGA,DTA and FT-IR test.
