Conclusion
➢ Engine performance:

The increase in ethanol ratio (E0 to E12) resulted in:

• Increase in Torque (12.6%)

• Increase in thermal efficiency (3.45%) and exhaust gas temperature (29%)
• Increase in BSEC (6.8%)

➢ Engine Emissions:

The increase in ethanol ratio (E0 to E12) resulted in:

• Decrease in CO (27%) and HC (29%) emissions

• Increase in CO2 (41%) and NOx (49%) emissions

Conclusion
Lubricating Oil Degradation

➢ Kinematic Viscosity (K.V.) and Flash point (F.P.) temperature of lube oil decreased for
all tested fuels as compared to fresh oil. It can be accredited to high combustion
temperature and oil oxidation promoted due to ethanol presence in fuel.

➢ Total Base Number (TBN) of lube oil also decreased for all tested fuels (E0, E6 and
E12). TBN decreased with increasing ethanol ratio in fuel blend due to more acid
formation in lube oil.

➢ Highest metal particles were found in lube oil for E12 fuel as Fe (27×10-6), Al (12×10-
6), and Cu (16×10-6)
