I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards: The learners demonstrate understanding that the bones,
muscles, stomach, intestines, liver, brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, bladder, etc. are
major internal organs that keep the rest of the body working well.
B. Performance Standards: The learners practice healthful habits to maintain proper
functioning of the major internal organs of the body.
C. Learner’s Competencies / Code: The learners describe the main internal parts and
function of the human body.
*Specific Objectives (3 Skills a Day)
1. Cognitive* Describe the parts and functions of the lungs.
2. Psychomotor* Draw and label the parts of the lungs.
3. Affective* Show proper ways of taking good care of the lungs.
II. CONTENT

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson (or) What are the functions of the heart?
presenting the new lesson
B. Establishing a purpose to the lesson Stand up and run in place for a minute as
fast as you can.
Ask:
How do you feel?Is it like catching
your
breath?
Which do you think is the internal
organ that helps us breath?
D. Discussing new concepts and Let pupils watch the video about lung (see
practicing new skills #1 attached powerpoint presentation)
Discuss the different parts and functions of
the lungs.
E. Discussing new concepts and Perform Activity 1 ( see attached activity
practicing new skill #2. sheet 1 on week 2)
Let the pupils answer the questions on
activity sheet by writing their responses
F. Discussing new concepts and Ask pupils read the questions in activity
practicing new skills #3. sheet.
Let them share their answers. Then
discuss how lungs work.
G. Developing Mastery Let pupils answer Activity 2 and 3.(see
attached activity sheet)
H. Finding practical applications of What are the things that we need to do in
concepts and skills in daily living order to keep our lungs healthy?
How can you make sense of the
concept of the lesson in your real-life
context? *
I. Making Generalization and Where are your lungs located?
Abstraction about the lesson: What are the parts of the lungs?
(Sequence of Questions) What are the functions of the lungs?
How does the human lung work?
J. Evaluating Learning True or False.
___1. The respiratory system does not
include the lungs.
___2. We brought in oxygen and brought
out carbon dioxide.
___3. The right lung has three rounded
sections called lobe.
___4. The lungs have two trachea and a
bronchus.
___5. The bronchial tree includes the
trachea and bronchi.
Answer the evaluation attached in the
activity sheets.

Application or Remediation Draw the lungs and explain how do they
work.

ACTIVITY 1
CREATING MODEL WORKING LUNGS
What you need?
What to do:
1. Take the larger balloon and attach it to the bottom of 2 liter bottle. secure the balloon
in place with tape, the model won’t work if there is a hole.
2. Add the 9 inch balloons to the end of a straw and secure it with a rubber band.
Thread the two straws through holes in the lid of the bottle and secure with another
rubber band.
3. Insert the balloons and straws into the bottle.
What do the parts of our model represent?
straws = bronchi (shuttle air to and from lungs)
small balloons = lungs ( provides oxygen to blood)
large balloon = diaphragm ( controls breathing )
Guide Questions

in your model )
