B. Discussion
“A picture is worth a thousand words”? This idiom actually means that
a picture canconvey meanings more easily than descriptions. It tells
stories andexpresses ideas through illustrations rather than using words.
Visual media are sources of information in the form of visual
representations. It can be anywhere around us. It can be
photographs,posters, videos, signages, comic strips, paintings, billboards,
infographics statues, and a lot more. These media may contain messages that
may notbe written in text, but rather the messages are
suggested throughillustrations.
Values, on the other hand, are beliefs that motivate and guide the
attitudes or actions of people. It describes the qualities people choose
toexpress as a guide to their actions. These can also be defined as ideas
orbeliefs that a person holds desirable or undesirable.
Examples of values

Vales are suggested in visual media by means of depiction. Since


values are reflected in actions and behavior, we can identify the values by
analyzing the depiction in the images.
To identify suggested values depicted in visual media, a good way to
start is to ask yourself these questions

a. What do you see in the picture?


b. Which elements in the visual media as a symbol of something?
c. What feelings does the picture or image convey?
Let us take a look at this example.
