4. Presentation/Reading the objectives of the lesson

This game will lead to us on our Pre-test, formative test.

Fix and Move Them, then Fill Me Up

Instruction: Consider the given polynomial functions and fill
in the table below. Copy and answer.

Based on the results of our Pretest, it shows your

understanding about the topic. Your scores signify that
only a small percentage of the class has a knowledge
about polynomial functions.
So, this shows that we will move on to our lessons, a new
topic.
Let us read the objectives of our lesson. (Call students to
read each objective.)

IN GENERAL: in which the variable does not
appear.
A Polynomial Function is in standard form if it is written in
descending order of exponents.
The degree of a polynomial in one variable is the highest
exponent of its variable.
A leading coefficient is the coefficient of the term with the
highest degree.

The constant term of a polynomial is the term of degree

0; it is the term in which the variable does not appear.
Polynomial Function can be represented by a polynomial
equation.
Linear Function is a polynomial function whose degree is
1
Quadratic Function is a polynomial function whose
degree is 2. Cubic Function is a polynomial function
whose degree is 3. Quartic Function is a polynomial
function whose degree is 4. Quintic Function is a
polynomial function whose degree is 5.
Any polynomial functions with degree higher than 5 are
still called polynomial functions.
There is no specific name for polynomial function with
degree higher than 5.

D. Application:

Use all the numbers in the box ONCE as COEFFICIENTS or
EXPONENTS to form as many polynomial functions of X as you
can. Write your polynomial functions in standard form and send
it to me through my messenger account: Ofelia Esperon
Guinitaran. The first 5 to send will receive a price.

Example: f(x) = 10X5 + 9X4 – 2X3 +4x

How many polynomial functions were you able to give?

Classify each according to its degree.
Identify the leading coefficient and constant
Give the constant term. We’ve probably used a polynomial in
our head more than once when
shopping. For example, we might

Polynomials are even used in various fields of science ,

such as physics , where we measure acceleration , or to
express units of energy , inertia , or even in electricity .
etc . In chemistry , polynomials are used in writing down - None Ma’am
the chemical equations .

Are there any questions? clarifications?

If none, please prepare yourselves for our evaluation.
