The GVP College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam started in 1996, has very quickly
established itself as one of the most-preferred private engineering colleges in Andhra
Pradesh. College has been accredited by NAAC in 2009 with an A grade (with a score of
3.47/4.00). The college has been sanctioned “Autonomous” status by the UGC and conferred
by the affiliating University, JNT University, Kakinada in 2009.

our earliest origins-This department was Established in 1989 and first served by eminent persons like Dr. R. Rambabu, Sri
T.Ravishankar, Sri G. Ramasastry, Smt V. Sree Devi, Sri M. Pavan Kumar, Dr. T. Sandhya and presently heading by Sri K. Ravi
Prasad. The Department has independent laboratories fully equipped with instruments and consumables, and advanced equipments
for teaching.

Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1989, since the inception of the Institution. It offers Mathematical
sciences in various B.Sc., Degree courses in combination with Physics & Chemistry, Physics & Computers, Statistics & Computers
and Electronics & Computers. The Curriculum is designed to suit the requirement of the Industry and as per the norms prescribed
by the Andhra University.
The Department is having 8 well experienced and dedicated members of faculty and one teaching assistant. Out of 8 faculty
members 2 members are having doctoral degree and 2 members submitted their Ph.D. thesis. One member is AP SET qualified.
One of the faculty members has Minor Research Project in Mathematics. The faculty members have published 30 research papers
in peer reviewed National and International Journals.
The Department is having its own library and Computers with internet facility to update the knowledge of faculty members. The
faculty members provide personal counseling to the students for better career.

The Department of Physics was established in the year 1989. In the beginning it has a combination with traditional subjects
Mathematics, Chemistry, Electronics and Computer Sciences in accordance with the demand of the students. The department
extends its support as a parent department to the department of Electronics in some topics. The Department has equipped with
latest laboratory which enables the students to have the best practical Knowledge to compete with the Industrial needs.

Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and P.G. Courses (Autonomous) introduced Commerce program in the year 1989 with
the aim of producing competent commerce professionals to meet the requirement of the corporate world. B.Com is a three –year
course which imparts theoretical as well as practical knowledge in the field of commerce. From academic year 2015-16 we
introduced Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as per Andhra University norms.

 Special attention is given in the form of Personality Development sessions, to develop communication and interpersonal
skills, to face Group Discussions, Interviews and to get through them.
 Mock interviews are conducted for the final year students to enhance their confidence in interpersonal skills.
 Special Packages are given to the non-computer back ground students.
 For the commerce students Tally package and Foundation Course for C.A are provided. These inputs were given to the
students throughout the academic year.
Career Oriented Programmes (COP)
In addition to the regular curriculum, the students of Gayatri Vidya Parishad are provided with the opportunity to pursue some
Career Oriented Programmes (COPs) within the time frame of Three Years. The COPs are in the form of Certificate, Diploma and
Advanced Diploma Programmes. The COPs equip the students with additional skills, which help the student capture better job
opportunities. Department of Commerce is successfully running the COP in Accounting and Taxation, an MoU with At@TALLY
course to support the students academically.

Department of Statistics
Department of Statistics started in the year 1989 at the inception of the college. In the beginning it has a combination of
Mathematics, Economics and later emerged with a combination of Mathematics, and Computer Science with an aim to train the

Department of Physics started functioning in 1989 at the inception of the college. It offers a combination of Mathematics, Chemistry
a combination of Mathematics, and Computer Science the Department has well-equipped teaching laboratories including modern
experimental setups for achieving high standards in learning. The curriculum is framed in such a way that students are able to
achieve sound theoretical foundation and problem solving skills in all subjects, and exposure to a range of research areas is
provided through a choice of elective courses. B.Sc. students are given hands-on training in all aspects of the subject being taught,
from computation to sophisticated experiments, and they also undertake research projects in various research groups as part of the
curriculum. We encourage our students to present their work in conferences, and to publish their work in journals. We do give much
emphasis to presentation skills and writing skills, and train/encourage students to appear for national level exams.
