    Exercise 2. Find the adjective in the first sentence and fill the gap with the adverb.

    3. Her English is fluent. She speaks English fluently
    4. Our mum was angry. She spoke to us angryly
    5. My neighbour is a careless driver. He drives carelessly
    6. The painter is awful. He paints awfully
    7. Jim is a wonderful piano player. He plays the piano wonderfully
    8. This girl is very quiet. She often sneaks out of the house quietly
    9. She is a good dancer. She dances really well
    10. This exercise is simple. You simply have to put one word in each space.

    Exercise 3. Write down the correct form of the word in brackets (adjective or
    adverb).
    1. Tom is (slow) slow He works slowly
    2. Sue is a (careful) girl. She climbed up the ladder carefully
    3. The dog is (angry) It barks angryly
    4. He acted (excellently) He's an excellent actor.
    5. They learn English (easly) They think English is an easy language.
    6. Max is a (good) singer. He sings well
    7. It's (awfully) cold today. The cold wind is awfull
    8. Dogs rely on their noses as they can smell (extremelly well) If that is true, why does
    dog food smell so (terrible)?
    9. The little boy looked (sad) I went over to comfort him and he looked at me sadly
    10. I tasted the soup carefully but it tasted (wonderful)……

    EXERCISE 4 : Underline the verbs, nouns and adjectives in the sentences below.
    1. The baby has high fever.
    2. The patient look pale when he was diagnosed with cancer.
    3. The contaminated needle must be disposed of.
    4. The water in the tank is murky.
    5. The patient seems withdrawn today.

    EXERCISE 5 : Match each sentence below with the correct Adverbs.


    Calmly Cheerfully carefully softly anxiously
    1 We should talk calmly so as not to disturb the patients in the ward.
    2. The surgeon carefully removed the suture from the operative site.
    3. She waited anxiously for her husband outside the operating theatre.
    4. Although Isabelle was frightened, she managed to answer all the questions cheerfully
    5. Staff Nurse Hamin never fails to greet her patients softly every morning.
