Outcome Based: Learning Experience 5

Webbing Content for Engaging Learning Creating New Possibilities in Teaching

The evidence of learning demonstrates how the learners meet or even exceed the standards.
Students' attainment of standards in terms of content and performance is critical evidence of
learning. This is a guideline for the assessment and learning outcomes included in the
Enclosure No. 1 of DepEd Order No. 73, s. 2012.

Teachers of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum are challenged not only in making
the students learn facts and information but also in affording them opportunities to express
their understanding in varied ways. Contents therefore are occasions for students to
demonstrate creative evidence of their understanding of what they have learned.

Knowing What to Teach: Declarative and Functioning knowledge

Let’s play with the Declarative Knowledge Wheel. Using the wheel below, answer
the following question:
1. What are the major qualifications of declarative knowledge?
2. What are the sub-qualifications of factual knowledge? Of conceptual
knowledge?
3. Why do you think they are called Declarative Knowledge?
FUNCTIONING KNOWLEDGE: PUTTING DECLARATIVE KNOWLEDGE TO
WORK
Functioning Knowledge is putting the following Declarative Knowledge to work.

My Reflection on Learning Content

To my surprise, I have found the learning experience to be both challenging and

rewarding. I have enjoyed the opportunity to explore new ideas and concepts as well
as to gain a greater understanding of existing topics. It has been interesting to see how
different topics can be connected and how my understanding of one topic can be used
to better comprehend another.

Observing classes, not only I gain insight into different teaching techniques and
strategies. I learned that one method or strategy is not enough when teaching. You
have to know more and use different methods and approaches in every student.

Working on the activities, I realized that all teachers need a guide on how to teach
students. Such as what kind of strategies and method they have to consider, they also,
has to think the learner’s capability to understand each lesson they teach/discuss.

In my future career as a teacher, I will recognize the importance of understanding how

to best deliver content to students. I know that by utilizing a variety of teaching
strategies, I can be successful in helping my students learn. I plan to use a variety of
active learning strategies to engage my students and ensure that they are able to fully
comprehend the material. I will incorporate hands-on activities, group work, and
problem-solving activities as a way to make the learning process more enjoyable for
my students. Additionally, I will use technology in the classroom to help my students
understand complex concepts. I plan to use technology to create interactive lessons,
and to access a variety of online learning resources. I am confident that by
implementing a variety of learning strategies, I will be able to effectively help my
students learn and grow.
