Field report #2
Jennifer Lara
Tarrant county
Instructional strategies 1
The required field experience was taken in the Lake Worth ISD district, located in Lake
Worth. These observations took place in Mrs. Espinoza class in ILS class at Howry Steam
Academy. Each table has 4 students meaning four desks are converted into a desk, which each
desk had the students’ names. In the classroom there are 4 adults, one teacher and 3 aides, which
would be a great help for the teacher. The lighting for the class is bright; they like having the
light always turned on. The teacher's desk is located in the corner at the very back, there is a desk
in the other corner for the aide if they needed any work done to be. For technology they have
laptops and smartboards that students sometimes use with activities, which are located at the
front of the class. Straight walking from the door there is a calm down corner, which students
can use if they feel stress out. Which through out this observation that corner was very helpful.
Class expectations
The teacher uses manners for every student can use while they’re answering a question or
when the teacher is speaking the students have to be respectful, there are posters posted around
the class, such as class rule, schedule, math, reading, writing. She will introduce the lesson but
would also have the lesson ready on the board like the to do list just so the teacher was on track
at all times or the aide would tell the teacher if she got off track. While the teacher teach the
other aide would be walking around making sure everyone on track. The first lesson was about
reading, which the teacher read a book to the class while everyone pay attention. As she noticed
students not paying attention or talking a lot would then get the students attention again by
saying class and they would repeat it which at the end they were quiet. The teacher would teach

As the class kept going the teacher would ask students questions about the reading to
make sure they’re paying attention, staying on track. When she finished reading the book, she
would play another read out loud book on the board. Which after she would ask questions about
both of them such as the similarities of both. If she sees any behavioral issues going on, she will
ask the student if they would like to go to the calm down corner and relax. Which by the calm
down corner they have card the students of their name of how they feel like if they read which
means they’re mad. At the end she will ask the students if they were confused and needed to
reteach. They said yes, and the Mrs. Espinoza would ask which part needed help, which went
over with it slowly to make sure they understood. There were a couple of students that needed
Student needs
After the time for reading was over, she started next with writing which they all work as a
group. One of the teacher aides passed white boards to all the students and some markers, which
all the students were expected to wait patiently and quietly while they got all of the supplies
ready. The teacher asks about some difficult word they couldn’t pronounce or write or the
meaning of it. The teacher would write the word the whiteboard and students would practice on
saying it. The teacher formed a group depending on what kind of need they have and behavioral
issues with other students which each adult would work individually with them. In each
transition of lesson, the students would get overwhelmed the teacher was able to get everything
Overall, this class had a lot of movement since there were students coming in since they
did inclusion. Which meant some students that are able to go to another class and be there if it

getting angry which the adults were able to manage it well since they do have a calm down
