1. Play a circle game ( a whole class activity where pupils sit or stand in a
large circle ) to review numbers up to twelve.
2. Introduce telling the time ( on the hour and half past ) using the board or
toy clocks if available. See Teacher’s Book p.24, Warm up. Pupils can stay
in a circle for this stage
3. Continue the lesson with Vocabulary and Grammar box ( See Teacher’s

20. Teacher plays the recording again and check with the class. Teacher
say each sentence for pupils to repeat.

1. Teacher directs the pupils’ attention to the picture of the world map.
2. Teacher prompts the pupils to tell what they can see in the world map
and connect to the flags of the countries.
3. Teacher shows the flag flashcards to the pupils. Pupils say the name of
each country and match each name to the correct flag flashcard.
(worksheet 1- enrichment exercise)
4. Teacher plays the song from Activity 1 (CD- Track 3) and pupils sing
along.
- Play second time, pupils listen to the song and circle the correct answer
in worksheet 2.

in groups of five. Introduce themselves and their partner next to them.
8. Pupils sing the song again and recall the person and connected country
mentioned in the song. Play a guess game in Activity 3 in pairs
(textbook, page 5).

2. Teacher introduces the topic of the lesson using the picture of mummy to
find out what pupils know about this topic.
3. Teacher introduces the pupils to the two main characters of the book,
Anna and Greg in textbook, page 6. Teacher plays the CD1- track 7 once.
Pupils shadow read the story. (Play the CD again, read along with the CD).

class.

3. Extend with a numbers game to consolidate numbers 1–100 if necessary.
Monitor closely to see whether pupils are comfortable with numbers up to
100. If some are having difficulty, build in extra practice in this lesson (see
step 2) and in the next few lessons.
4. Consider setting a homework task related to this.

4. Pupils read through the key phrases and understand them all.
5. Pupils listen to the CD– Track 1-04.
6. Pupils write down the answers of sentence 1-9 while listening to the
audio. Check answers.
7. Pupils do Activity 4. Write their own six sentence by using the key
phrases learned in previous activity.
8. Two pupils are chosen to read speech bubbles in Activity 5. Pupils repeat
the dialogue by substituting their own hobbies and interests in pairs.
9. Teacher writes these sentences on the board, I _____ into music. Ana
_____ good at art. Then, elicit the pupils to find out the missing words in
the form of verb be. (am/ is)
10. Pupils learn about the negative form of the verb be by using the same
sentences listed.
11.Teacher holds up a book and says, “I’m a teacher- it’s my book. You’re a
student- it’s your book.” (Elicit pupils’ ideas by using other subject
pronouns and possessive adjectives.)
12. Pupils complete page 5, Activity 1, 2, and 4.
13. Play “Is it true”, is it false?”. Pupils write in capital letters TRUE and
FALSE on 2 pieces of Paper. They take turns to say or make up a hobby
or interest that a member of their family has. Then ask: Is it true? Is it
false?
