Ph.D. Programme
The University is preparing students from rural mainland of Uttar Pradesh in particular, and all parts of India in general, often coming from
marginalized sections for leadership in a complex world.
It offers the kind of education needed through various inclusive, society-oriented programs for transforming our country in the disciplines of
Humanities and Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Business, Law, Education and Environmental Sciences – through a breadth of
highly regarded degree programs that allow students the freedom to explore their intellectual and personal growth. The faculty members at our
University accept their responsibilities conscientiously, share leadership in a democratic spirit, and maintain subject to the highest standards of
public trust. University offers 99 courses that include Diploma/integrated PG Programmes/UG/PG and Ph.D. at its main campus and satellite centre
at Amethi.
The University strives to fulfill the objectives of its inception. University provides 50 percent seats of all the courses reserved for the students
of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes. Now with the government directives, University also offers 10 percent seats reserved for the Economically
Weaker Section. The University also provides fee exemption for the students of the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes in regular courses. University
also provides financial assistance to the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe students for their dissertation and thesis preparation. University also
has a satellite centre at Amethi, started in the year of 2016. The University has a fully air conditioned and well-furnished Central Library namely
Gautam Buddha Library having more than 50 thousand books and 10 thousand online journals along with departmental libraries in the respective
departments to cater to the demand of the students pursuing studies in the University. The University has one health centre with availability of
doctor round the clock. For overall development of the Students University has a Centre for Personality Development with Residential Coaching
Programme (RCP) and Remedial Coaching Centre (RCA). The University has a Student activity centre which is likely to be functional.
In the coming years, BBAU will be taking up a range of other activities designed to further preserve our environment; provide learning
experiences surpassing cultured linguistic and geographical boundaries making our socially and ethically responsible global citizens. The University
has designed a road map to achieve excellence, in making learner centre education through collaboration, rigorous training promising employability
for our graduates. The strategic initiatives of the University include major focus on emerging global educational trends and creation of knowledge
base society to face the unforeseen challenges of tomorrow’s world. The University also plans to own a radio station for the dissemination of
community oriented information, education and knowledge.
New initiatives undertaken by the University are towards improving infrastructure, campus development, welfare of the faculties and students,
empowerment of women and weaker sections, creation of sports, health and other facilities, establishing new hostels for students, initiating
innovation in academic and extra-curricular activities. The University is making serious efforts to attract the students from other countries. In this
direction, an International student centre has been created which will work exclusively for the international students and their hassle free admission.
An office of Dean R&D has been established to promote collaborations, consultancy services based on principles of public private partnership. These
endeavors of University are surely going to earn laurels for the University.
Education at BBAU
BBAU epitomizes in providing the highest standards of education with the help of eminent faculties which match up with global standards of
education and research. BBAU is committed to undertake academics and research in the areas beneficial to industry and society. The faculties based
on their exemplary research have been successful in garnering prestigious awards and fellowships across the globe. The University awards more
than 100 Ph.D. degrees on an average every year. To give a further boost to education, the University is partnering with the leading institutions
through Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs).

Built on a sprawling 250 acres of lush green campus, this ‘temple of learning’ has excellent state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities conducive
to higher teaching-learning environment and research. The main objective of the University is to provide higher education of global standards and

In recent years, BBAU, Lucknow has made significant strides. It got NAAC Accreditation with Grade ‘A’ in its first cycle and has been ranked

General Information
1. The applicant is provisionally allowed to appear for the entrance test and their candidature is subject to the fulfillment of the minimum
eligibility criteria at the time of admission.
2. Admission of the candidates for Ph.D. programme is based on their suitability to specific specialization and also subject to fulfilling all other
conditions laid down in the respective regulation of the BABASAHEB BHIMRAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY.
3. The merit list for the unreserved category seats will comprise all the candidates in the order of merit including candidates under reserved
category if they come in the unreserved merit. A candidate under reserved category, who figures in the unreserved merit list, is entitled to
be considered for admission under the unreserved category. Admission to open category seats will be strictly in the order of merit without
excluding candidates belonging to reserved category.
4. The Departments shall get verified the relevant certificates submitted by the applicant for availing the benefit of reservation.
5. Merit list for interview will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in entrance test(70% weightage), marks obtained in Bachelor’s
degree(2% weightage), Master’s degree(3% weightage) and weightage for NET/M.Phil./JRF (JRF-10 marks, M.Phil+NET-7 marks, NET-5
marks).
6. Candidates will be called for interview in 1:5 ratio based on declared number of category wise seats.
7. All the essential qualifications including NET etc. will be considered till the last date of filing of online application.
5. Applicants seeking admission to more than one course in the University have to submit separate application and Registration forms for each course.
They should take separate admission tests for each course.
6. For taking the Ph.D. entrance test, it is necessary that the candidates must have passed the PG degree course in the relevant subject/allied
subject as listed at Annexure II from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission with 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent
grade ‘B’ in UGC 7-point scale (5% relaxation or equivalent grade shall be provided to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwD).
7. The percentage of marks in the qualifying examination shall be read without rounding off the percentage.
8. Merely appearing in the entrance test does not entitle a candidate to claim admission.
9. Candidates against whom any disciplinary action has been taken at any stage in his/her earlier academic career shall not be admitted to any
course in this University.
10. Enrollment of a student shall stand canceled if candidate is held guilty of any cognizable offence. Enrollment may also be canceled if
candidate’s conduct is found guilty by the University.
11. The University reserves the right to make any changes/ modifications in the provisions made in this prospectus.
12. No candidates shall be entitled to claim admission as a matter of right.
13. The criteria for qualifying examination for the Ph.D. programme are given in BBAU Ph.D. Regulation.
14. The Departments of the University may ask the candidates concerned, wherever necessary, to get recognition/equivalence of their degrees/
diplomas/ certificates authenticated from the Association of Indian Universities/University Grants Commission/AICTE/Council of Boards of
School Education in India (COBSE)/PCI/BCI on his/her own for the purpose of admission in the Department. Further, the cases of equivalence
of degrees/certificates/diploma may then be put up before the University Authorities for further consideration and confirmation. However, the
Certificates / Diplomas/ Degrees already recognized/equated by the University may not be referred for further verification.
15. University offers supernumerary seat to its’ teaching and non-teaching permanent employees who fulfill basic eligibility as per Ph.D
regulations and secure more than 50% marks in CBT (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD). Upto 15% over and above of total sanctioned
seats of the department may also be given to Foreign/NRI applicants subject to fulfilling the University guidelines for foreign students and due
recommendation of Coordinator, International Students Centre.
16. All disputes pertaining to the conduct of entrance examination including results shall fall within the jurisdiction of Lucknow.
Reservation Policy
The reservation policy to be followed for admission in academic session 2022-23 will be as per the provisions of the academic ordinance Chapter-
VII (clause 9) “for the purposes of admission to all courses of study in the university, 50% of the seats shall be reserved for Scheduled caste/
Scheduled tribes (SC/ST) students” and 10% seats shall be reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) for admissions in the University as per
the letter of MHRD, F.No.19-4/2019-CU.Cdn dated 23.01.2019.
University Facilities
COMPUTER CENTRE
Presently University has a Computer Centre equipped with computers and internet facilities under the info net program of UGC scheme, which
is open for all. The University is also connected with National Knowledge Network (NKN).
HEALTH CARE
The University provides health services through medical officers to all the students, administrative staff, faculty members, and subordinate
staff and the residential students of the University. University has also established Yoga and wellness centre with the help of state government to
provide alternative health care with dedicated instructors/consultants to all the staff and students.
LAN/Wi-Fi
Most buildings in the University such as administrative blocks, departments, hostels, and some residential quarters in the campus are fully
equipped with LAN facility. The state of the art Wi-Fi connectivity across the campus provides high-speed internet.
LIBRARY
The Gautam Buddha Central library is housed in a huge library building and fulfils its objective to supplement educational and information
needs of the faculty and students through its books and periodical sections having adequate reading rooms, journals and video library. It is equipped
to facilitate visually handicapped students as well. The library services are also extended to non-teaching staff and visitors. It has adequate collection
to satisfy the information need of the user.
GUEST HOUSE
The Guest House of the University is located within the University campus and is providing round the clock boarding and lodging services to
Guests. Guest House rooms are allotted to University Guests free of cost and to other State or Central Govt. organizations, Universities, Public Sector
Undertakings on request, subject to availability, on payment. However, first priority is given to the University activities.
MESS /CANTEEN
Mess facility is available in the University in all the hostels. A Canteen is also running in the campus during working days which is open for all.
SC/ST CELL
The staff of the cell is actively engaged in coordinating and solving the problems in the matter of admissions in the University, utilization and
timely disbursement of scholarships, accommodation in hostels, conduct of remedial coaching, UGC-NET coaching, competitive exam coaching and
other measures with a view to see that the education system succeeds in bringing the Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes to a level quantitatively
as well as qualitatively at par with the rest of the society. The Cell is also instrumental in monitoring the implementation of rule of reservation for
SC/ST in admissions and appointments in teaching as well as non-teaching posts. Further a Gold Medal also is awarded to topper among the SC/ST
students.

SPORTS
A healthy person keeps a healthy and active mind and sports are the best mechanism to accomplish that objective. The University, being
sensitive for the overall development of students, realizes that a balance in physical, mental and emotional growth is essential for the complete
development of personality.
At present, the University has a multipurpose sports ground in the campus having facilities for sports like football, volleyball, cricket, athletics
etc. In addition, there is an indoor Gymnasium equipped with all modern facilities for physical training. Indoor games like Badminton, Table Tennis,
Chess, and Carom facilities are available. All the games, indoor and outdoor, are facilitated by experts and trainers. University is sure that these
facilities would instill in students a sense of confidence besides physical fitness. It would help them in becoming a complete human being so that
they can withstand the challenges of life.
The University has basic facilities for the women employees and girl students including a day care center in the campus.
Similarly, to develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among the students, BBAU NSS wing was started with following objectives:
