DAY 1: DEPLOYMENT DAY 09/26/23
On the first day of school as Pre-service Teacher, this what
happened throughout my day: • We had an orientation with the principal of the school together with the teachers. We were also accompanied by our practicum supervisors. • I met and talked with my resource teachers, Ma’am Maisura Utto, about the schedule and some tips that I must always put in my mind once I’ll met her advisory. • I assigned to observe the Grade- 11 section Diamond with 52 students. • After our conversation, she gave me the rest of the day to room around the school. I took pictures with the facilities of the school. • My first day went smooth except feeling nervous which is understandable.
DAY 2: EXPLORING THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT 09/28/23
This is what happened on my 2nd day:
• Today is my second day of my school tour to observe the environment of the school. I saw the different facilities and offices of the school students. • One of the challenges I experienced is that the school is so wide that it wasn’t easy for me to walk around because I felt the heat of the sun. • My day was tiring but I enjoyed as I look around. DAY 3: MY FIRST DAY IN MY CLASSROOM 09/29/23
This my 1st day entering the classroom of my Resource Teachers
and these are the things happened: • I met my students and I was also introduced by my assigned Resource Teacher. • After her announcement, the teachers are required to head to the gymnasium for the General Assembly School PTA meeting. She then informed me that the students will be left in my care to which I immediately agreed. • I took the chance to know and introduce myself to the class. I let them ask me and I also interviewed them. • The challenged I experienced was told hold my patience because of the behavior of my student. Nut I am still thankful because I am starting to learn the real world a teacher will face which help me to develop tips and skills I will need to adopt as I will someday because a professional teacher. This shall will pass.
DAY 4: OBSERVING TEACHING STRATEGIES OF MY CT 10/02/23
In observing the teaching strategies of my resource teacher,
there are things I have observed and learned: • I saw how difficult it is to handle and manage a classroom. From providing guidelines for cleaning areas inside and outside the classroom. Student are reminded of this almost every day because of their lack of responsibility. They will not take initiative to do things unless the teacher orders it. • An adviser is with the students for almost 8 hours, so the teacher faces different situations every day. It’s just like suddenly cutting classes or a student being absent during class hours. I saw how teacher handled such situation where she contacted the parents to ask if their child was at home or what was the reason, they went home without asking permission to the teacher. • I also saw how teacher can be a parent to her students. They say blood is thicker than water but there is teacher who give to much effort to their students when it comes to education. Just like my resource teacher. DAY 5: CELEBRATING TEACHER’S DAY 10/04/23 I know how memorable it is to celebrate our teacher’s special day, but celebrating it is Pre-service Teacher is more memorable. There’s what happened: Outside the school are full of seller of flower and stuffed toys. Several students are buying their gift for their teachers. It crosses my mind, could my student will be surprised? There were mixed emotions inside me, but I didn’t show it. When it is the time to give tokens to the teachers, I only received a ballpen that SSG leaders provided for each of the teachers and I am just a PST. In fact, it was three days that we’ve met and it is not their responsibility to also include me in their surprise party for their adviser. I realized that if I’ll over become teacher, we don’t necessity expecting such surprises because we don’t know what might our student think for me, a genuine smile and greeting are enough for me.
DAY 6: REVIEW FOR INCOMING EXAMINATION 10/06/23
I really admire a teacher who doesn’t let her student’s fail and drop their grades. To avoid, my resource teacher had conducted a review of her topics for upcoming examination. She really spends a lot of time and patience with her students so that they can understand the coverage of her examination on in their subjects. This is one of an effective strategy to develop the retention of students and give them an idea of how to study their topic easily so that they will be ready for the examination. As a teacher, we are not only able to impact and instill knowledge to the students, but it is our responsibility to our students to have lifelong learnings that they can hold onto in their lives and they will be able to remember us a good teacher that they had. I learned how essential to review before examination because it will help students recall important information from the teachers DAY 7: THE DAY OF EXAMINATION 10/10/23 Today, I learned the strategies of my Resource Teacher in making an assessment: Her test preparation is consistent with all of the topics covered in her class and anchored to the student’s ability level. The teacher clearly expresses her instruction in answering the test she gave to his students. After giving instruction, my resource teacher left the students with me because she suddenly had a flu, which I accepted wholeheartedly. While I was observing the students as they answer their test, I saw that there were some students who did not listen to the teacher’s instruction, some started to answer. There are also those who struggle with the questions because they haven’t reviewed. The sad thing I observed was that I saw a student who cheated by opening her bag and peeking at her notebook. What I did was I closed her bag as well all the students. I also went around the whole class to see anyone else if there’s a cheating. Luckily, I didn’t see anything else. As a teacher, it is sad for us to saw a student cheating. Because we feel that or efforts is leaching and delivering our topics is being ignored. This experience did not occur in my advisory, but in one of the sections held by my resource teacher.
DAY 8: MAKING A LESSON PLAN FOR MY DEMO-TEACHING 10/13/23
Today is my last day in FS 401, my resource and I had a conversation about my upcoming demo-teaching for FS 402. She advised me to start making a 4A’s lesson plan on one of the given topics in the Self Learning Module she gave to me. As I was making my lesson plan, I was reminded of all the knowledge about what and how to make an LP. I recall all the strategies my teachers taught on making an effective lesson plan. I realized how important for us students, especially in college journey to always paying attention to the discussion especially if it is related to our specialization. Lesson plan is important because it helps us to make sure of the everyday activities that go in our classroom to provide learners with a good level of lasting progress toward what they want to achieves. DAY 9: 1ST DEMO-TEACHING 11/07/23 Today is my first demonstration teaching. Although it is normal to feel nervous during this first try, I still managed to take it calmly. The challenges I experienced was because of my nervous, before I could start my demo-teaching, I forgot to sign my lesson plan, and to have it sign by my Resource Teacher. After my demo-teaching, my voice become coarse because the strength of my voice could not handle the number of my students where it was inevitable that they would make noise. But with the help of Allah, I still finished it successfully. What I learned today are the different strategies that I can use in my next demo-teaching. just like the different activities I can use next to make my teaching more interactive to the class. I will not stop learning to become better in my field of specialization.
DAY 10: MAKING MY 2ND LESSON PLAN 11/13/23
Today is a normal day at school. But as for me, I was busy because my Resource Teacher gave already the lesson that I need to teach in my 2nd demo-teaching. So, I was busy making lesson plan all the day. Even though this time was my second time making lesson plan, it was still difficult for me, especially in the part of planning the activities I need to use that is anchored in the lesson. But with the help of my Resource Teacher to finish it. What I learned today are the strategies given by my Resource Teacher that I can do to make it easier to the activities that I will use in my teaching. Also, having an open communication with people around me has been a big part so that I can learn more especially in this field of teaching. DAY 11: RECOGNITION DAY AND CARD DAY 11/16/23 Today is a very special day for student specially to the parents whose children are among those achievers. I didn’t experience any challenges today because my heart was full of joy to see these student’s achievers. I think back to when I was still in high school. Like them, I am also one of the students who had received honors where I was with my parents in receiving that certificate of recognition. As a teacher, it feels so good to see our students receiving their honor because they are the proof that our teaching as teacher has been effective for student. Our hard work to deliver the lesson everyday so that they can learn. It is also a way to strengthen our teaching to increase the number of students who will receives honors. Theirs success is also our success.
DAY 12: 2ND DEMONSTRATION-TEACHING 12/05/23
Today is the scheduled for my 2nd demonstration-teaching. unlike my 1st demo, it started off smoothly. But mistakes are still inevitable as I am just starting to teach in the actual classroom. One of my mistakes was the giving of feedback I should and shouldn’t have done in my class. Unfortunately, my strategy in teaching was not expected to resulted in unhealthy competition among students. I didn’t foresee the possible disadvantages of the strategies I used, so it become a bit messy and the flow of my teaching based on my lesson plan was ruined. But I still manage to finish and solve this unexpected thing in my class. There things gave me a big lesson to focus more on providing better effective strategies in my next teaching. As a practice teacher, it is not wrong and it is okay to make mistake. What is important is that we know how to accept those mistakes and genuinely committed to become a better teacher every day. DAY 12: FINAL DEMO-TEACHING 12/05/23 The most difficult part of preparing for the final teaching demonstration was managing my time effectively. My cooperating teacher and I made the most of our free time to finish everything early and avoid rushing. When it came time for my final demo in my handling class, I initially felt excited and overwhelmed During my final demo in my perspective handling class, first I feel the excitement and very much overwhelm, because I already know that I can handle a class. Final teaching demonstration is most crucial part for a student teacher. In my Demonstration proper my final demo teaching was great, I find it best teaching, aside that our topic is very interesting and it is also easy to understand. I prepared for my lesson plan, and instructional materials to use and I make sure that it is suitable to their level.
I realized that teaching isn’t an easy job. It requires our full
dedication, love and compassion on the profession and the learners. Dedicated in a sense that we, teachers should have the ability to inspire
