1 Test Purpose
This test report provides the data and results of baseband test for Quectel RM500Q-CN module in
environment at normal temperature.

The main purpose of this test is to detect the current consumption performance and ESD capacity of the

l
module under specific test environment system according to IEC 61000-4-2 and Quectel specifications.

t e
The test includes items listed as below.

c l
⚫ Power Consumption Test:

2.3. Initial Conditions

⚫ Power Consumption Test Conditions: normal temperature and normal voltage.

⚫ ESD Test Conditions: chamber temperature 15°C to 35 °C (25 °C properly), humidity 30%–60%
(40% properly).

2.4. Test Procedure

n
f
2.4.1. Power Consumption Test

n
⚫ Power-off State:

o
Power supply provides normal voltage for the module that is never turned on and the current

C
consumption data can be displayed by the power supply. In order to get specific leak current, it can
be measured by corresponding current tool.

⚫ Sleep State (Low Power Consumption State):

This test comprises 2 modes:

1. RF Disabled:
The RF is set to minimum functionality mode with command AT+CFUN=0. In this case, both RF
function and (U)SIM card will be invalid.
And the module can be set to airplane mode with command AT+CFUN=4 or W_DISABLE pin. In
this case, RF function will be invalid.

RM500Q-CN_Baseband_Test_Report 8 / 20
C1-R-21-0017

2. RF Enabled:
The RF is set to full functionality mode with AT+CFUN=1. In this case, the module will be able to
work normally.

Taking RF enabled mode as an example, the test procedure is as follows:

Step 1: Power on the module and register it successfully.

Step 2: Input AT+QSCLK=1 through USB. When OK is returned, the USB can be pulled out. The
module will enter sleep state.
Step 3: Acquire the average power consumption within a period of time by the current testing tool of
power supply.

l
DRX is set before the module is registered on the instrument, but whether the configuration is valid

t e
or not is determined by the base station.

c l
USB Suspend: Keep USB3.0 connected without communications and the module at the sleep

a
mode.

u e t i
⚫ Idle State

n
The module needs to be registered and in idle state.

Q ide
USB Active: Keep USB3.0 connected.

f
⚫ Active State

n
The RF is enabled by setting the module to full functionality mode (default). The module is registered

o
and connected to base station.

C
GNSS ON State

Turn on the module and connect GNSS RF port to the instrument. Execute AT+CFUN=0 to reduce
the effect on other circuit and execute AT+QGPS=1 to turn on the module’s GNSS function.

2.4.2. ESD Test

Two types of ESD test: Air Discharge (AD Mode) and Contact Discharge (CD Mode).
ESD test instrument: Dito of EM Test.
Test range: CD: 1 kV–10 kV; AD: 1 kV–16 kV.

4 Test Result
The test report is based on specific conditions, and all data has been acquired in accordance with the
requirements for the test. And you can refer to the data in this report when applying the module to their
applications.

l
Sample modules of the same batch are tested, and all tested modules perform well. The report includes

e
basic current data measured in particular states for the module and displays module’s ESD tolerance.
