Introduction-
Unnat Maharashtra Abhiyan a flagship programme of the government of Maharashtra
and inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by
leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive Maharashtra.

Pole-mounted substation is designed for electric power reception of three-phase

alternating current, frequency of 50 Hz with the highest operational voltage up to 11 kV,
transformation of electric power to a voltage of 0.4 kV in the system with deadly earthed neutral
of transformer on the LV side and for electrical power distribution among end users.

Aim-
To study construction and working of Pole Mounted Sub-station

Course outcome –
To provide the opportunity to realizing self potential through practical experience while
working individually or in group

Actual Procedure followed

 First we collected information about 11KV/440 V substation equipment and visit our college
campus 11KV/440 V substation
 Then we separate the information of substation equipment.
 We meet subject teacher and show the data about project.
 Then we find the some picture about the substation equipment.
 Using M.S word we starting writing the report of project.
 Then we finding out the outcomes from this project and noted in the report.
 Then we making the soft copy of the project report and show the subject teacher.
 After showing the report to the teacher we do the correction in the report and making hard
copy of project report and submitted to the subject teacher.

Pole-mounted distribution systems are commonly used to distribute electrical power from
a centralized source to homes, businesses, and other buildings. There are several reasons why
pole-mounted distribution systems are needed:

1. Cost-effective: Pole-mounted distribution systems are typically less expensive to

install than underground systems, making them a more cost-effective option in many
cases.
2. Reliability: Pole-mounted distribution systems are easier to maintain and repair than
underground systems, as they are more accessible and visible. This makes them a more
reliable option for delivering electricity to customers.
3. Flexibility: Pole-mounted distribution systems can be easily reconfigured or expanded
to meet changing power needs, making them a flexible option for growing
communities.
4. Safety: Pole-mounted distribution systems are designed to meet strict safety standards,
including grounding and insulation requirements, to protect both people and property
from electrical hazards.
5. Compatibility: Pole-mounted distribution systems are compatible with a wide range of
electrical devices and appliances, making them a versatile option for delivering power
to homes and businesses.

5. Distribution Transformer

A distribution transformer is a transformer that provides the final voltage

transformation in the electric power distribution system, stepping down the voltage used
in the distribution lines to the level used by the customer. The invention of a practical
efficient transformer made AC power distribution feasible; a system using distribution
transformers was demonstrated as early as 1882. Distribution transformers normally
have ratings less than 500 kVA, although some national standards can describe up to
5000 kVA as distribution transformers. Since distribution transformers are energized for
24 hours a day (even when they don't carry any load), reducing iron losses has an
important role in their design. As they usually don't operate at full load, they are
designed to have maximum efficiency at lower loads. To have a better efficiency,
voltage regulation in these transformers should be kept to a minimum. Hence they are
designed to have small leakage reactance.

Working-
It steps down the voltage from three-phase three-wire 11KV into three-phase four-wire
400V and single-phase 230V power supply.

Conclusion –
A pole-mounted transformer substation is a strategic part of the electrical grid. It's a hub
that takes high-voltage electricity from power lines and transforms it into lower, safer voltage
levels for local distribution.
