1.10 GENERAL INFORMATION

The Semi Automatic spreader is a version of most existing Stinis spreaders.

The Semi Automatic spreader has been designed to be used on conventional ship and
Harbor cranes

Twistlock will be activated manually.

1.20 AREA OF APPLICATION

The SAC 20-8 can be used on conventional ship and Harbor cranes.

The spreader is suspended on the crane by four wire ropes.

The spreader is fitted with four lifting lugs by every twistlock inside the cross beam.

The spreader is fitted with pocket holes for its own transportation by forklift only. They
are not for handling containers.

The spreaders are constructed with one longitudinal beam and two cross beams:

The longitudinal beam supports:

• 2 supporting bracket for the wire rope


• 2 lifting pockets
• 1 hand operation handles

Each cross beam supports:

• 2 suspension points
• 2 lifting lugs
• 2 wire ropes
• 2 twistlocks
• 2 twistlock actuating handles
• 2 driving pins for hand operating on the top of every side
• 2 driving pins for hand operating from the ground on every short side

1.40 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

• Attach the spreader on the crane hook


• Approach a container and land on the top of container
• Ensure the four twistlocks in proper landed inside corner casting

LOCK/UNLOCK THE SPREADER

The spreaders operate manually by the handle near the end beam .

INDICATIONS: TWISTLOCKS IN LOCKED POSITION : lock, colored green


TWISTLOCKS IN UNLOCKED POSITION: unlocked, colored
red

1.50 INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE SPECIFICATIONS

Greasing points:

• Grease the twistlocks and bolt of the unlock handle


• Grease the actuating handle (inside the cross tube)
• Check the wire rope extensioner for easy moving up and down (optional)
• The drop nose bold of the extensioner (optional)
• The top of the twistlock under the nut
• Wire ropes to prevent corrosion (BEL RAY 8 in 1)

Other points

• Check the wire ropes for wire breakage


• Replace twistlocks after 100000 moves or sooner if there is too much space
through corrosion between bolt and nut
• Check the working of the spreader. You can test the working of the twistlocks by
placing the spreader on blocks and moving the central shaft

1.70 MATERIAL CERTIFICATION

Stinis only uses material with certificates according to DIN 50049 3.1.B or 3.1.C.

Stinis requires high values regarding the high stresses of the material and therefore Stinis
has his own standards.

Those standards are depending on the quality and thickness of the material specified for
the minimum requirements of alloying elements and the charpy-V at low temperature.

Procedure:

Procedure regarding the identity of materials:

• Stinis only buys materials with international recognized certificates.


• At the arrival of the materials, Stinis controls the registration numbers.
• Materials get their own Stinis registration number with mentioning the month,
year and next number of the incoming product.
• These numbers will be on high loaded material register.
• All identity numbers are in files with the following registered data:
Dimensions/quality
Stinis number
Identification number
Material certificate number
Material certificate document

Minimum requirements:

• For quality Fe42-C/D en Fe52-C/D, the minimum charpy-V / -20 is 60J


• For quality with a yield point of 700 N/mm2 till a thickness of 20mm, the
minimum charpy-V / - 40 is 60J
• For quality with a yield point of 700 N/mm2 till a thickness of more than 20mm,
the minimum charpy-V / 40 is 100J
• For quality with a yield point of 850 N/MM2 till a thickness of 60mm, the
minimum charpy-V / 60 is 60J

1.71 WELDING INSTRUCTIONS

Welding instructions St52-3N

Thickness till 25 mm
Welding material : Basic for S355J2G3 (ST52-3N)
Method : Horizontal / Vertical
Preheating : None
Pre-grinding : For no paint / rust, none

Thickness over 25mm


Welding material : Basic for S355J2G3 (ST52-3N)
Method : Horizontal / Vertical
Preheating : 50 – 100 Degree Celsius
Pre-grinding : For no paint / rust, none

Notes:

If the quality of the weld is not important, and preheating is prescribed, next procedure is
allowed:
• The first layer is for preheating.
• 2e and 3e are for the mechanical connection.
After the first weld, go on directly with the next two layers.

1.80 WARNINGS

• Never lift more than the workload mentioned on the spreader


• Check wire loop dimensions on crane hook
• Check wire ropes for wire breakage (especially in the loop)
• To park the spreader on blocks (twistlocks free from the ground)
• By lifting, check that the position of the crane hook is c/c at the spreader
• Check the positions of the twistlocks
• Check the tare of the container
• Check the working conditions of the spreader (periodically)

1.91 WARRANTY

SEMI AUTOMATIC SPREADER SAC 20-8 AS PER SPREADER


SPECIFICATION

3 years on construction and welding from the date of Year Built, provided that the
spreader is used normally.

According to the General Conditions for the supply of mechanical, electrical and
associated electronic products.

The guarantee shall only apply if the purchaser has followed the maintenance
instructions according to the manual provided by STINIS SINGAPORE PTE
LTD and also provided that the spreader is used normally.
