1. What is balanced diet? Describe importance of balanced diet?

A mixture food having proper amounts of food nutrients needed for a person suitable to its age job and
health condition is called balanced diet.
Importance of balanced diet:
Different food condition different amount of nutrients. A diet is all that we eat in a day. Out eating or
intake of food containing nutrients in less amounts than needed in our body creates health problems. List
of balanced diet keep our body health. Food items are required in different age groups.
2. Describe sources and functions of carbohydrates?
Sources of carbohydrates:
Glucose, starch sugar etc. are the food belonging to group called carbohydrates. Sugar is present in honey,
fruits milk, wheat, barley and potato etc.
Function of carbohydrates:
They are quick source of energy for our body most of the energy needed of our body are met
by them do the work as fuel for our body.

Sources of Proteins:
They are found in meat, egg, fish pulse, milk, chicken, nuts, beans etc.
Functions of Proteins:
Proteins are food groups which provide mate rich for grow repair and reproduction. They are called
building block of our body.
4. Explain sources and functions of minerals?
Source of Minerals:
They are found in milk, meat, grains, vegetables, fruits eggs, fish, etc.
Functions of Minerals:
 They are needed for formation of body tissues like bones teeth and body cells.
 They play important role in growth of our body.
 They make bone, and teeth strong.
 They make mussels healthy,
 They health in blood clothing.
5. Describe sources and function fats?
Sources of Fats:
They are obtained from animals as well as plants e.g. milk butter, ghee, cheese animal fats fish oil etc. are
fats rich food obtained from animals vegetable oils such as oil, sunflower oil coconut oil, mustard oil etc.

Function of Fats:
 They protect our body for the effects of temperature.
 They give safety cover to vital body organs, like head, brain, kidney and liver.
 They keep our body.
 They are secondary sources of energy.
 They are as source of energy during shortage of carbohydrates.
6. What is a food pyramid?
This is a short that helps us in choosing different food items for our daily diet.
It is just like shakes in which different levels.
The base of the short show the food that we take the minimum, while the top of the short shows that
these items we should use in minimum.
7. Why is it important to eat food from all groups?
It is important to eat all the foods because contain different amounts of nutrients. A diet that we eat in a
day should be a balanced diet. Balanced diet contains proper amounts of all necessary nutrients. Eating
health balanced diet maintains out physical and mental health.

Citric fruits orange guava, strawberry etc. sources of Vitamin D.
Milk, Cold Liver, Soybean, etc.

What is Unbalanced diet?
A diet locking one or more essential compound of food needed by a person is called unbalanced diet. It
effects the growth and health of our body and we may become sick.

Table salt is a mineral due to presence in sodium. It is taken from sea water and rock. It is eaten by man in
food, its more use major disease.
Why we need food?
We need food because food provide us energy and nutrients needed for vital process, like growth, repair
reproduction and protection from groups.
