Lesson plan in Mathematics for the experimental group-Day 2

I. Learning objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

1. define angle pairs
2. explain the properties of angle pairs.
3. work harmoniously in groups.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Angle Pairs

b. Materials: Visual aids, worksheets, chalk and board
c. References: Mathematics- Grade 7 Learner’s Materials First edition, 2013 ISBN: 978-
971-9990-60-4, p. 203
d. Values Integration: Working harmoniously in groups.

III. Lesson Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. Preparation

Good morning class! Good morning, Ma'am.

Before we start our lesson, may I request (one student volunteer to lead a prayer)
everyone to please stand for the prayer. Who
will volunteer?

Now I want you to arrange your seats and

make sure you are in line with the seats in front
of you.

B. Motivation
(Student’s is picking a color)
Now, I want you to pick a color here in the box.

All students who pick a color blue will be the

group 1. Students who pick an orange will be
the group 2. Students who have a color violet
will be the group 3. Students who have a color
black will be the group 4. Students who have a
green will be the group 5. Students who have a
color yellow will be the group 6. Students who
have a color pink will be the group 7 and those
who have a color red will be the group 8. Now,
go to your respective groups.
Yes, Ma’am.
Are you now in your respective group class?

In your group, choose your engineer, facilitator,

timekeeper, scribe and judge Write your names
in ¼ sheet of paper with designated roles. Pass
the paper if you’re done.
Yes, Ma’am.
Is that clear class?

C. Review
Yesterday, we were done discussing about
kinds of angles. Who could give the three kinds (A student volunteered)
of angles? The three kinds of angles are acute, right and
obtuse angles.
Very good!

So, let us now proceed to our topic for today.

D. Presentation

Our lesson for today is all about angle pairs.

Before we start our discussion, I’m going to

give you a group activity. Encourages all the
members in the group to share their ideas.
Choose one representative to present the
outcomes of your group.

Do you understand class? Yes, Ma’am.

Okay, here’s the activity.

The following figures are angle pairs. Study

each figure and give your own definition of
each angle pair.

1. SUPPLEMENTARY ANGLES

a+b =180o
(Each group doing the activity)

a b The engineer defines, analyzes and designs

solutions to problems.

The facilitator keeps group on task and verifies

2. COMPLEMENTARY ANGLES that all contribute.

a+b =90o The timekeeper monitors time and helps to

keep the group on task.

The scribe takes notes on important thoughts

expressed in the group.

a=60o b=30o The judge listens and evaluates ideas and

suggestions about the problem from group
members.

4. VERTICAL ANGLES

a=b and c=d

After 10 minutes, the representative of each

group will present their work in front of the
class.

Based in your activity, did you have any idea

Our lesson for today will tackle about angles
about our lesson for today?
whose sum is 180o.
Okay, very good!

Let’s now start our discussion.

 SUPPLEMENTARY ANGLES

The two angles are supplementary if the sum

of their measures is 180 degrees. Each angle
is called a supplement of the other.

Example:

120o 60o

A B

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 63
<A= 120o and <B= 60o.

Appendix 10. Lesson plan in Mathematics for the experimental group-Day 2 (continued)
Measure of <A + measure of <B = 180o, then
<A and <B are supplementary angles.

Did you understand about supplementary Yes, Ma’am.

angles class?

 COMPLEMENTARY ANGLES

Two angles are complementary if the sum of

their measures is 90o. Each angle is called a
complement of the other.
Example:

1 2

In the figure, <1 and < 2 are complementary

angles.

 ADJACENT ANGLES

Adjacent angles are two coplanar angles that

have a common side between them but have
no interior points in common.
Example:
A D

B C

In the figure, <ADE and <EDJ are adjacent

angles with common side ⃗BD .
 LINEAR PAIR

If two angles are adjacent and supplementary,

then they are called linear pair.

Appendix 10. Lesson plan in Mathematics for the experimental group-Day 2 (continued)

In the figure, <LON and <NOM are adjacent

with common side ⃗ ON
and
m<LON + m<NOM =180o, are supplementary.
Then, <LON and <NOM are linear pair.

 VERTICAL ANGLES

Vertical angles are opposite angles formed by

two intersecting lines. Vertical angles are
congruent.

Example:

1
3 4
2

In the figure, <1 and <2 are vertical angles

and <3 and <4 are also vertical angles.

 ANGLES AT A POINT

All angles having the same vertex around a

point are called angles at a point.

Example

A C

D E

Did you understand about angle pairs class? Yes, Ma’am.

E. Generalization

The angle pairs are supplementary angles,

complementary angles, adjacent angles,

linear pair, vertical angles and angles at a
point
Yes, Ma’am.
Do you now understand the lesson class?
Appendix 10. Lesson plan in Mathematics for the experimental group-Day 2 (continued)

Now, I want you to be with your group and

study what we had discussed earlier. I will
give a quiz later.

Is that clear class? Yes, Ma’am.

IV. Evaluation

Answer the following in a 1/2 sheet of paper.

Instruction: Use the figure below, identify what is being asked.

B C D

A E F

1. Name at least 1 complementary angles.

2. Name 2 adjacent angles.
3. Name 1 linear pair.
4. Name 2 vertical angles.
5. Name 2 supplementary angles.

V. Assignment

Study in advance about angles formed when parallel lines are cut by a transversal.
