DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 10

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Complete the proof of theorem on chord perpendicular to a diameter (or radius)
2. Solve problems related to the theorem on chord perpendicular to a diameter (or radius)
3. Display appreciation of the theorem on diameter that is perpendicular to a chord by actively
participating in every activity where the concept of the theorem learned can be applied.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

I. Preliminaries

a. Greetings

- Good morning class! Please pick up some piece

of waste under your chair and arranged your chair - Good morning, Ma’am!
properly.

b. Prayer
(Students are standing and praying)
-Everyone please stand up and let us pray.

c. Checking Attendance
- Present Ma’am/Absent
-Say present as I call your name

d. Motivation

- Before we proceed to our discussion for

today, let us first have a short game.
The game will be called “4 Pics One - Yes Ma’am!
Word”. Are you familiar with that
game?

Okay, Class I will post the pictures on - Yes Ma’am!

the board then I will call several
students to guess the words.

Are you ready class?

- I think the easiest clue is the dot. The

answer is point, Ma’am.

_____ _____ _____

- So, class what is the answer on the given

picture?
- That’s right, the answer is ARC. - The vertex is the answer on the last picture,
Ma’am.
_____ _____ _____ _____

- How about the second picture?

- Very good, that’s correct.

_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____

Class, what can

you say about the
last
picture? What
does it show?
Who can
guess?

- That’s, a very good guess. Your answer is
correct .
- Now we can proceed to our lesson
II. LESSON PROPER

A. Activity
(Group)
II. LESSON PROPER

A. Activity (Group)
Direction: The class will be divided into 2groups. Each
group will have an envelope which contains all the
needed materials. Follow the given instructions.

FOR GROUP 1-Based on the definition of an inscribe

angle, how can you draw it according to your own
understanding?

FOR GROUP 2-Based on the definition of a central

angle, how can you draw it according to your own (Students will cooperate with each other in doing
understanding? their task)

You have 10 minutes to work on your tasks and

afterwards a representative of each group will present
your work. Do you understand the activity?

Okay, you may now start

B. ANALYSIS
(Group 1
The teacher will representative
gather the work of will present their
the work)
pupils and she (Group 1 representative will present their work.
Answers and drawing may vary)

will check if each (Students will clap their hands)

group (Students will

got the correct clap their
answer hands)
(The teacher will gather the work of the pupils and she
will check if each group got the correct answer.)
-Let’s begin with the group 1. (Group 2 representative will present their work.
Answers and drawing may vary)

-Job well done Group 1.

- Clap your hand for them.

(Students will clap their hands)

- Let’s proceed to the group 2.

Job well done

Group 1. You’ve
got all
the correct
answers.
Clap your hand
for them.
-Job well done Group 2.

- Clap your hand for them.

I am so glad that all of the group got the

correct answers. It seems that you really - inscribed angles
understand the lesson.
You all deserve a big round of applause
-I am so glad that all of the group seems really
understand the lesson.

-You all deserve a big round of applause -∠ LAP, arc LP; ∠ TOP, arc TP; ∠ MGC, arc CM
C. ABSTRACTION - In ∠ LAP, the center of the cirlce is in the interior
of the angle
-Our new lesson for today is all about inscribe In ∠ TOP, one side is the diameter of the circle
angles and intercepted arcs. In ∠ MGC, the center of the cirle is in the exterior
of the angle
-First, let’s define what is Inscribe Angle. An
inscribed angle is an angle whose vertex is on a circle
and whose sides contain chords of the circle. The arc
that lies in the interior of an inscribed angle and has
endpoints on the angle is called the intercepted arc of
the angle.

Look at the figure on the board

-What do you call the angles being illustrated on the

board?
- Yes, Ma’am!
-Very Good!
- No, Ma’am.
-Who can Name each inscribe angle and its
intercepted arc. Yes,_________

-Very Good!

-And last is determine how each inscribe angle differ

from the other two.

- Yes, Ma’am

-Exactly!
- Answer
-lets proceed to the Theorems on Inscribed Angles
- Theorems on Inscribed Angles
1. If an angle is inscribed in a circle, then the measure of
the angle equals one-half the measure of its intercepted
arc (or the measure of the intercepted arc is twice the
measure of the inscribed angle).
2. If two inscribed angles of a circle (or congruent circles)
intercept congruent arcs or the same arc, then the angles
are congruent.
3. If an inscribed angle of a circle intercepts a semicircle,
then the angle is a right angle
4. If a quadrilateral is inscribed in a circle, then its opposite
angles are supplementary.

-Did you now understand the theories of inscribe angle?

Any Question or
-

clarifications
regarding
the topic?
That’s good to
hear class.
-Any Question or clarifications regarding the topic?
-That’s good to hear class.

D. APPLICATION

-Since we are done about Inscribe angle, get ½

crosswise and answer this.
-I will give you ten minutes to finish. And submit it
to me when your finish.
-Clear?
III. EVALUATION

Answer the following:

A. Make a two column proof

B. Use the figure to answer the following:

ANSWER

IV. ASSIGNMENT:
1. Read the definition of central angle and its theorem. Then draw an example of central angle.
