Regulatory Signs

To begin with, we have Regulator signs, which are typically straightforward in their
meaning. They often take the form of a circle with either a red diagonal line or border.
It’s crucial to recognize that the ‘STOP’ sign is octagonal and red. Upon seeing this
sign, drivers are required to come to a complete stop at the limit line, crosswalk, or
intersection. These red signs specify actions that drivers must avoid or cease. One
notable sign among them is the ‘Yield’ sign, which is shaped like an inverted triangle.
This sign indicates that drivers should yield to traffic with the right of way. Apart from
the red signs, there are also blue signs that provide directional guidance to drivers.
Warning Signs
Secondly the Warning Signs, these are typically depicted on yellow triangular shapes with
red borders. This combination of color and shape indicates an unexpected roadway condition
or potential hazard ahead. Consider these signs as your road advisors, providing warnings
about the type of road you’re traveling on, prompting you to be extra cautious and alert
while driving. It’s important to pay attention to ‘School Crossing’ signs; always stop and
yield to pedestrians when you see them. If you come across a ‘Road Work’ or ‘Falling Rock’
sign, it’s advisable to adjust your route and activate your navigation app to find a safer
alternative.
Informative Signs
Finally, we have Informative Signs. These are typically displayed on blue rectangular
boards, providing drivers with information about the nearest hospital, parking area, gas
station, as well as the locations of jeepney and bus stops. There are also green and
yellow versions of these signs, indicating the distance to the next city or town. Your
success as a driver hinges on how effectively you adhere to these road signs. Failure to
do so may result in a trip to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to retrieve your
license and a loss of funds. Therefore, the next time you’re on the road, do yourself and
everyone else a favor by being a responsible driver.
