YouTube PowerSlam – Local Video SEO Tips 3

LOCAL VIDEO SEO TIPS

The following information was put together by Earl Gardner,

who is both a veteran PowerSlammer and a master at dealing
with offline business

• Research keywords to find those that are being searched

regularly. Unlike with regular web pages, you don’t need to
worry as much about the strength of the competition on
page 1 of Google, because the fact we are using YouTube
means that we should be able compete with most regular
web pages, regardless of strength. So we are focusing on
the volume of the searches.

• Once we determine the keywords we are targeting you

need to rename your videos so they match the keywords
you are targeting. I use hyphens to separate the words in
the name.

• I use a software called MetaX

(http://metax.en.softonic.com) to change the meta data of
my videos to include the keywords I am targeting.

YouTube PowerSlam – Local Video SEO Tips 4

• Set up a YouTube channel that is named the same as the

keyword with the highest search volume. If that is not
available, work your way down the list. Alternatively name
the channel something is related to your niche. I like to
name it the same as the highest searched keyword, since
it improves my chances of ranking for that keyword.

• Dress up your channel as you normally would with

images, links to social media sites and your website. Add a
keyword rich description in the About section. Add the
business address into the About section also.

• Upload each video, and follow the same instruction as

given in the PS3 course. Add your keyword first in the
title, and then add the telephone number of the business
next to it.

• Make sure you add your full address in the video

description area, and in the Geographic field in the
Advanced section.

YouTube PowerSlam – Local Video SEO Tips 5

• Edit your Close Captioning and add your main targeted

keyword both at the beginning and the end

• Add your targeted keyword at the beginning of your video

as an Annotation. Keeping the annotation there for 1
second is enough.

• Start working on getting your channel and your videos

some social signals. You can use Fiverr or programs such
as OnlyWire for this.

• Bring in some false views, likes and subscriptions, but I

prefer to do them slowly at a natural rate, rather than
going too fast.

• Use Fiverr to push out your channel RSS to a few RSS

feeders

• Get video views with long viewing engagement

• Use Fiverr to get your videos embedded into third party

blogs.

YouTube PowerSlam – Local Video SEO Tips 6

• Build back links to your videos. Don’t over do the keyword

rich hyperlinks. I am aim for around 15% of keyword rich
hyperlinks, and the other 85% are generic, branded or
URL hyperlinks. You can use sellers in Fiverr to run
SENukeX to do this

• Keep checking your ranking, and build links as necessary.

• I prefer to only get enough fake views to get me ranking

then I stop, because I really want to know what my real
viewer engagement is.
