Concept paper on:

Rational Nexus Club’s Leaf-Making for the Sci-camore Tree

I. Title
“Sci-camore Tree: Leaf-Making”

II. Rationale/Background
The High School Department of Cainta Catholic College, together with the
Science Department, made an activity for the whole school year to create a tree, which
will be called the “Sci-camore Tree,” and its leaves will be received from the said
department. The total number of leaves equals the amount of recyclable materials each
grade and section donated to the school. The materials will be sorted into different
categories, each with its own number of leaves set by the department. The club officers
will distribute the leaves. At the end of the school year, those leaves had a significant
impact on the science subjects of the students. This activity seeks to create an
environment for the students to apply recycling in their daily lives and give recyclable
materials to people who can use them for good.
At this club meeting of the Rational Nexus Club, the club members will be
grouped into a pair or three. Each will be given green cartolinas and the template of
Grade 11 and Grade 12’s leaves. It will be passed on to the club advisers and verified by
the club officers. Utilizing this activity, the club will be a great help in executing the
Sci-camore Tree program.

III. Description
Set to happen in November, the upcoming activity, Sci-camore Tree:
Leaf-Making, wants to help the Science department accomplish the program’s
objectives. While the Rational Nexus Club officers are brainstorming for their next
activities for the club, the other club members will have a peaceful rest while still being
able to contribute to the whole department. It will prepare them for the next club days,
filled with carefully planned and educational activities.
IV. Objectives

a. Create Leaves for the Sci-camore Tree Program

The primary objective of this activity is to produce enough leaves to distribute for
the whole school year. Assigning the club members to participate in the leaf-making
activity, supports the club and the entire Science department's commitment to
establishing the Sci-camore Tree program.
b. Encourage Collaboration Within The Club
Because the activity will be completed in groups of two or three, club members
will associate with and collaborate with others to complete it. They would get to
know each other and even make friends, which will be an important aspect of the
club's future activities. It aims to highlight the role of camaraderie in pursuing
academic excellence, especially in Science and Mathematics.
c. Enhance Communication Skills
Another important goal of the activity is to improve the club members'
communication skills as they collaborate with others. Learning to communicate
effectively has a great impact on overall academic performance. It will make it easier
to understand what someone is interpreting and scientific and mathematical
concepts.

V. Facilitators and Participants

The facilitator of this activity is the club’s dedicated club advisers. They will be
the ones to distribute the materials and collect the leaves after. These generous club
advisers will guide and assess the success of the leaf-making activity for the Sci-camore
Tree.
On the other hand, the activity is solely for the senior high school students of the
present school year. Students from different strands and sections will be joined, with the
grade 11 members in one room and the grade 12 members in another. They should be
part of the Rational Nexus Club in the first place to participate.

VI. Mechanics
For this activity, the procedures are simple yet require careful
execution.
1. A few pieces of green cartolinas will be given to each group to resemble
leaves.

2. It will be created using a pattern template the respective club advisers

provided per grade level, which differs in shape and style.
3. The club members should use the cartolinas strategically to produce as many
leaves as possible. After tracing the template, it will be cut into individual
pieces.

4. These leaves will be placed in a paper envelope with the member’s names in
each group and the total number of pieces they created.

5. The club advisers will collect them and give them to the club officers to
register and verify the leaves.

VII. Proposed Schedule and Venue of Implementations

The schedule will be on November 2023 at the designated club classrooms for the
members of the Rational Nexus Club. The activity will last based on the duration given
for academic clubs.
