HOLLOW CONCRETE BLOCK

Hollow block have a cavity in the core.

Properties of Hallow concrete blocks


1. High compressive strength
2. A Good fire and abrasion resistance
3. Air-space (hollow units) provides good thermal insulation
4. Very good stability
5. Rapid construction
6. Hollow units have low self-weight
7. Reinforcement can be passed through hollow units and filled with
concrete to increase earthquake resistance.
8. Highly durable
9. Low maintenance cost
10.Load bearing strength can be specified as per requirement.
11.Plastering cost can be reduced

Uses of Hallow concrete blocks


Concrete masonry building units shall be made in sizes and shapes to fit
different construction needs.
1. Used for single storey buildings blocks in foundation and basement
masonry.
2. These bricks are used for constructing panel walls for multi-storeyed
buildings and providing partition walls.
3. For light weight construction of internal partitions, exterior walls and
compound walls.
4. However, for two or more storey buildings, solid concrete blocks shall be
used in foundation courses, plinth, and basement walls, unless
otherwise indicated.
5. Used for acoustic buildings like auditoriums, seminar halls, cinema
theatre etc.

SOLIDE CONCRETE BLOCK

400 mm X150 mm X 200 mm
200 mm X150 mm X 200 mm
Properties:-
1. They are suitable for all type of construction works
2. They are available in various sizes.
3. Construction work will be faster as compare to stone and brick works.
4. Cost of construction is less as compare to other works.
5. Number of joints is minimum.
6. Strength can be varies as per requirement.

Plastering cost can be reduced

2. These structures include residential and commercial buildings etc.

5. Used for temporary sheds to store construction materials.
