application of the torque.

10. A metal bar 70 cm long and 4.00 kg in mass is supported on two knife edges placed 10 cm

THREE MARK QUESTIONS

1. A 3m long ladder weighing 20kg leans on a frictionless wall. Its feet rest on the floor 1m
from the wall. Find the reaction of the wall and the floor.

Using dynamical consideration (i.e. by consideration of forces and torques). Note k is the
radius of gyration of the body about its symmetry axis, and R is the radius of the body. The
body starts from rest at the top of the plane.
3. Obtain the expression for the linear acceleration of a cylinder rolling down an inclined
plane & hence find the condition for the cylinder to roll down without slipping.
4. Derive the three equation of translation motion
