CHAPTER I

THE BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGY IN RELATIONSHIP LEARNER STUDIES OF


SERAPIO, GAWAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Perform in school have focused on promoting interaction

of teacher and enhancing the level of teaching in the

contemporary era. New inventions led to the establishment of

advanced gadgets such as computer and smartphone that increase

communication and interaction (Asterhan and Rosenberg, 2015)

High school benefit from innovation particularly in the

communication industry. Based on (Freeman Dyson, 2008) he

stated that technology is teaching aid: computers offer in an

interactive audio visual medium.

High school instructor experience difficulties when

preparing learner’s future career and study such as college

technologies is intended to improved achievements and various

field and improve future (Heithnk et. Al 2016). Application a

new invention such as computer in school mostly involve

essential functions such as the use of projector when

teaching, sharing maps, and notes (Huizeriga ett. Al, 2017).

Technology has revolutionize the field of education, the

important of technology in the school cannot be ignored. The


use of technology has made the process or teaching and

learning enjoyable (Muiri-Herzig, 2008).

Through observation mostly students in Serapio, Gawan

National High School are addicted in using any technologies

mostly in smartphone, computer. They use this for their

studies especially in doing assignment, and playing online

games, it help the learner to gathered more information for

them to answer the research activity.

The reason why I conduct this study is to help student

with instant access to a vast amount of information and

resources. The internet and digital tool allows student to

explore various subject , conduct research, and access

educational material that may not be available in traditional

text books and should be no surprise that studies show engaged

student to retain more of what they have learned.


Research Procedure

The original proposed by the researcher was checked, and

rechecked by the researcher’s adviser to maintain conformity

on the subject of research. The questionnaire-checklist that

aims to draw out proper responses on the objectives of the

study was conducted. The questionnaire-checklist made by the

researcher and was presented to, analyzed and checked by the

research adviser to ensure the validity of responses it would

elicit.

Permit to conduct research study was secured of letter

requesting permission to the adviser of HUMSS 12 per section

of Serapio, Gawan National High School.

Data gathered from answered questionnaire were checked,

and prepared for the final presentation.

families and friends who supported us financially and morally.

To Ma’am Reynalda M. Olais, to the panelist Ma’am Leonice

Rodolfo and Ma’am Aprilyn Pataray thank you for your pieces of

Technology aids student expression. Present what they

have learned, they can use soft ware to make presentation and

projects. This make more interested in the subject and leads

to better retention of information. With technological aids,

the easy to remember notes and creative presentation of the

informal they have acquired (Andersen and Becker, 2009).

Technology also save teaching time as they required short

to present large information. They can used reveal needs and

stimulate students question. Thus learner’s interest can be

aroused, maintained, and stimulated to promote their

imaginative power, on the whole media ensure the application

of classroom oriented communication techniques. Therefore,

learner’s should be assisted, encouraged and motivated not

only to learn, but also to continue to learn (Demegilio,

2009).

Technology has eliminated space and time constraints.

Online education and distance learning have given a new

dimension to education and higher learnings. Even if students

are geographically far away from each other, they can be part

of the classroom. Though not physically but virtually they


can. Many educational institutes offer online causes, which

eliminate time and space in aquiring education. (Trotter,

2008).

According to (Meyer, Griffith, Jurkowitz & Rothman, 2008)

technological device may affect the learning performance of

the student in negative result if they field to use properly

Most of our youth and student today are found going into

internet shop to use computer, without knowledge of their

parents what they are up to you. They will ask money from

internet for their project or assignment, although others do

so, but there are some who just make it as an escape so that

they competent skills with their peers through playing online

games like for example war craft, battle realms etc

(Khan,2007).

School.

Specifically, it attempts to answer the following

1. What are the negative benefits of technology in

relationship to the learner studies?

2. What are the positive effects of technology to the

learner studies?

3. Is there a significant relationship between technology

device and learner studies and performance?
