• General Objective: By the end of this unit, students will be able to express themselves with basic
vocabulary and sentence structures to describe people’s physical appearances confidently.

Instructional 1. At the end of this class, students will be able to accurately describe the physical

2. By the end of the class, students will be able to express a description of someone by
using the vocabulary and grammatical structures studied in the class.
3) At the end of this unit, students should be able to list questions to ask about people’s
appearances.

To start the class, the teacher will use an activity in which


the students will have to get involved to get acquainted with
the content that is going to be studied during the section.
Presentation

Activity: Time
Warm-up Describing who is: Display photos of comics (or use images 15 minutes
of famous people in the classroom). The teacher will ask the
students to develop the activity using basic phrases to Skill
describe each photo. Encourage basic vocabulary like "Fast," Speaking and
"slowly," "Tall," "Small," etc. building

Students can take turns describing each image, while others
choose their photo to participate.

Having worked with the warm-up activity, the teacher will


use a small PowerPoint presentation to introduce the key
vocabulary, then continue with the sentence structure that is
used when it comes to describing people´s physical
appearance. The basic vocabulary and sentence structures to
be used in the class are the following: Time
-Hair: long, short, curly, straight, blonde, brunette, bald. 20 minutes
-Height: tall, short, average height.
-Build: thin, muscular, overweight, and slim.
Presentation -Age: young, middle-aged, old.
-Features: glasses, beard, mustache, freckles. Skill
Example: “She has long, curly hair and blue eyes.” Speaking,
Example: “He is tall and has a muscular build.” building
Example: “You and I are tall but we are slowly” vocabulary

After teaching this main part, the teacher will ask students to
make a small speech to describe a person based on what they
have understood so far.

Activity 1: Challenge Game (words-meanings) (10 minutes)


Now, it is time for students to practice what they have
learned. The teacher will give them worksheets with pictures
of different people and, on the other side, written
descriptions. Students will have to match the correct Time

Activity 2: Pair Work (10 minutes)

In pairs, students will take turns describing someone they Skill


know, with some adjectives seen in the class. Their partner Speaking, and

Activity: Create and Describe a Character
For this stage, the students will work in small groups.
They should create a character (or choose one from their

Once they’ve created the character, each student writes a 30 minutes
short description (5-10 sentences) of their character's

Review: Ask students to review key vocabulary from the Time
lesson, listing some examples on the board as a class. Ask 15 minutes
each student to give a quick description of one classmate (or

“He has short black hair and is wearing a white sweater.” Skill

Describe how the two people are similar and different in terms of height, build,

For homework, the teacher will assign an activity that reinforces the lesson and
allows students to practice the vocabulary creatively.

Homework Instructions: Choose someone you know well (a family member, friend, or even
a famous person) and write a brief description of their physical appearance and
