Reason
An investigation by BAE Systems has discovered that, for some aircraft types, the overhaul / test /
functional check instructions for the MC10 Series Oxygen Regulator Masks, and associated
harnesses, microphone assemblies and supply hoses are either missing or inadequate.
Description
BAE Systems has been made aware of Safran Aerotechnics Service Information Leaflet (SIL) 18
which documents the maintenance data for certain series of Oxygen Regulator Masks, and it has
been determined that the MC10 Series is approved for use on our aircraft types. The current
published aircraft maintenance data requirements have been compared with this SIL 18 and found
to have either missing or inadequate information. Therefore, Inspection Service Bulletins (ISBs) will
be required to be issued In order that operators can maintain their MC10 Series Oxygen Regulator
Masks, and associated harnesses, microphone assemblies and supply hoses correctly, until such
time as the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness in the BAE Systems manuals can be updated.
Once available, BAE Systems will be seeking to have these ISBs mandated via the UK CAA.
In advance of the ISBs being issued, BAE Systems are reminding operators that there are currently
instructions available to inspect and overhaul the MC10 Oxygen Regulator Masks, and associated
harnesses, microphone assemblies and supply hoses in accordance with the manufacturer’s
guidelines. Safran Aerotechnics SIL 18 copy of latest Issue (11) is attached to this AOM.
Recommendation
BAE Systems recommend that Operators review and implement the overhaul / test / functional
check instructions outlined within Safran Aerotechnics SIL 18, in order to maintain their MC10 Series
Oxygen Regulator Masks until such time as the ISBs are issued.
Aircraft Operators are reminded that they are responsible for incorporating all applicable scheduled
maintenance tasks and requirements, from the Maintenance Schedules, Maintenance Planning
Document and Maintenance Review Board Report, along with other Instructions for Continued
Airworthiness and guidance documentation, supplied from BAE Systems, into their Maintenance
Programme / Schedule.

It is strongly recommended to systematically apply all applicable Service Bulletin
(Refer to § 1.C.(7))
(5) Overhaul
(a) Expendable parts
The parts listed in table 2 and table 2 bis must be systematically replaced during an
overhaul; as well as appropriate repairs must be implemented.
This recommendation is linked to the risk of performance degradations for the
equipment after this period, especially the elastomer parts in contact with oxygen, even
not permanently.
(b) Other parts.
The parts listed in table 3 and table 3 bis, which are subjected to ageing, shall be
replaced depending on the conditions.

After an overhaul, do a fully bench test in accordance with chapter "TESTING AND
FAULT ISOLATION" in the relevant mask-regulators and regulators CMM’s in order to
declare the mask regulator serviceable.
(d) Identification
The overhauling shall be identified with a label, stuck on regulator, which indicates:
The name of the approved repair facilities,
The indication "OVERHAUL",
The control stamp,
The date.
CAUTION: THESE DATA MUST BE LEGIBLE. USE ONLY GENUINE INDELIBLE
INK AND PROTECT DATA WITH A TRANSPARENT SELF-ADHESIVE
TAPE.
(6) Action to be carried out upon shelf life.
(a) Each 18 months of storage, perform a functional test of the harness in accordance with
chapter "TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION" in the relevant CMM in order to declare
the mask regulator serviceable.
NOTE: Harness inflation is necessary to prevent the inside surfaces of tube fuse together by
contact when it goes unused for a lengthy period of time. If an inflation is not
performed, the harness assembly should be replaced.
NOTE: If the equipment does not pass the test, apply the appropriate actions before returning
it to service.
(b) At 72 months of storage, perform an overhaul before installation on aircraft.
(7) Applicable Service Bulletin.
