CSR Policy: JTI believes that providing part of its success in operating community. Therefore, by corporate policy, the company supports social, humanitarian causes, educational initiatives and cultural events. JTI priority support cultural projects that promote innovative art forms and high quality. JTI offers priority support charities that assist adults with difficulties (social, physical, psychological and / or mental) to their reintegration in society.The projects that are targeting education are also preferred. In the social responsibility policies are set also types of organizations / institutions / associations that JTI will not work.
The main programs developed by JTI Romania are: "Responsibility for Romania" started in 1998, targets disadvantaged: low-income elderly, homeless, sick neuro-psychiatric, children suffering from autism. In this program we have developed a partnership with the City District 2, the first public-private partnership of its kind in Romania. The program was rewarded with several awards such as Corporate Citizen Award for the most effective and creative social software package (2000), Diploma "People for People" awarded by the Association for Community Relations (2003-2004), Awards of Excellence offered by the City of Bucharest Sector 2 for community involvement (2002-2007).
In 2000 JTI Foundation initiated in partnership with Freedom House "JTI Scholarships for Journalists", a program exclusively for young journalists from the political, economic and social. They benefit from advanced stages of training in media organizations in the U.S. and EU. Over 30 young Romanian journalists were among the grantees JTI before.
"World Environment Day" was started in 2000 and promotes environmental protection. Is held annually on the occasion of World Environment Day and is an outdoor artistic expression. The program was mentioned several times by UNEP through events organized around the world during the World Environment Day.
