Why teach pronunciation to VN Learners?
Because their mother tongue differentiates words by tone Vietnamese
find a language like English very difficult to learn (PJ Honey)
words are stored in working memory for only a few seconds (Walter,
2008)unless we focus students on the importance of accurate
pronunciation most of them will not be able to consciously invest their
attentional resources long and deeply enough to notice and learn L2
phonemes (G Conti)
Understanding pronunciation aids listening (decoding) & vice versa
it is common for students to feel uneasy
when they hear themselves speak with the rhythm of a second language
(L2)
