The key takeaways are that staff and management are committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment and complying with relevant legislation. Everyone has responsibilities to ensure health and safety.

Employees are responsible for taking practicable steps to ensure their own safety and not harming others through their actions or inactions at work. This includes following instructions, being involved in training, reporting hazards, and not taking shortcuts.

In an emergency or accident, the site should be secured, first aid administered if required, and emergency services called. All incidents and near misses must also be reported.

Understanding your method of work
No work activity or operation must start until you clearly
understand what is to be done, and how it is going to be
completed in a safe and orderly manner

To ensure that this is fully understood by everyone involved,

we use a Method Statement, or a Task Analysis Sheet. The
format of this document can change dependant upon the
nature and complexity of the activity to be completed, but for
the majority of our projects a particular form called a Task
Analysis Sheet is used

These forms are generally completed by the Project Manager,

Project Engineer or his Supervisor and are used to brief those
people undertaking the work. These people then sign the
form to record their understanding
