CHAPTER ONE:
INTRODUCTION AND PROBLEM STATEMENT
Introduction
• The electro-mechanical shivering level tester is a very useful circuit for testing
whether an individual is drunk, stressed out, too afraid and or in tension. The circuit
is easy to use and to realize, inexpensive and indicates various levels of shivering
level through a graded map attached to a lamp and a bell.
Problem Statement
• A lot of road, water, air and industrial accidents happen every day due to drunk
driving, tension, fear and stress. This is because accurate majors have not been
taking concerning such situation and restriction means have not been provided so far,
this kept us thinking and wondering on how this vast problem can be ameliorated.
After a deep thought and research, we found that all this four enemies to societal
safety has one common symptom shivering and that majoring the rate of individual
shivering can be used to determine one’s state under these four conditions.
From above we can observe four (4) situations that all leads to
shivering. That is:
1) Alcohol: It has been proven that a drunk or someone under
the influence of alcohol loses stability, and shivers a lot.
2) Fear: Someone who fears also shivers a lot.
3) Tension: When a person is in a hard or rough situation, they
often show out the spirit of lack of self-confident (shivering).
4) Stress: When a person is stressed out it is proving that he/
she lacks concentration and focus (shivering).
But all these four threats to societal safety can to an extent be
minimized by the use of the ‘Electro-Mechanical Shivering
Level Tester’.
CHAPTER TWO:
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM, IT PARTS NOMENCLATURE AND THEIR
FUNCTIONS.
1) AC source: To supply the system.
2) Fuses: To protect the system from permanent damages.
3) On switch: To put on the system.
4) Contactor and timer: To put of the system at a
predetermine time after a fail try.
5) Bulbs: Indicates failure position.
6) Bell: To sounds in failure position.
7) Mechanical map (Mechanical 3 position switch): To show
alcohol or shivering level.

CHAPTER THREE:
SYSTEM FUNCTIONING AND AREAS OF
APPLICATIONS.
Functioning
• When the system is connected to a power supply, current flows and ends at the
level of the start switch. Once the start switch is witch on, current flows and
energies the contactor which closes it contacts km13 and km14. This action
allows current to flow to the testing arm which at this point is at the rest
position, the movement of the testing arm through the map in accuracy or not is
used to determine the person shivering level by putting on bulbs of different
colors and ringing of the bell base on which section of the mechanical map
touch by the person using the testing arm. The system is automatically switch
off by a time switch mounted on the cotactor after a fail try to prevent damaging
the bell and other components. This help in system life span extensions.
AREAS OF APLICATIONS
• Used in industries
• Used on high ways
• Used in airports
• Used in sea port
• And in offices
CHAPTER FOUR:
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Due to the high advantage offered by this system to the entire public, I
therefore edge all high ways, air ports, sea ports and companies to
make good use of this product hence reduce the rate of accidents which
may eventually leads to dead.
