My Disciple, My Disciple
My Disciple, My Disciple
My Disciple, My Disciple
25
A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and
said to them, 26 “If you want to be my disciple, my
disciple. 27 And if you do not carry your own you must, by
comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife
and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life.
Otherwise, you cannot be cross and follow me, you cannot be
my disciple. 28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For
who would begin construction of a building without first
calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish
it? 29 Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation
before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh
at you. 30 They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that
building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’

• 31 “Or what king would go to war against another king
without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss
whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000
soldiers marching against him? 32 And if he can’t, he will
send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the
enemy is still far away. 33 So you cannot become my
disciple without giving up everything you own. 34 “Salt is
good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you
make it salty again? 35 Flavorless salt is good neither for
the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown away.

iyon.’

said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the
wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” 8 Abraham
said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering,
my son.” So the two of them walked on together.9 Then they came
to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the
altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac
and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Abraham stretched
out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of
the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham,
Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 12 He said, “Do not stretch out
your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know
that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only
son, from Me.”

A.Calculating the cost involved
1. Consider the magnitude of discipleship
2. Consider the expense of discipleship
3. Consider the consequence of discipleship

A.Serve God with usefulness
B.Serve God with loyalty
Leviticus 2:13 Every grain offering of yours, moreover, you shall season
with salt, so that the salt of the covenant of your God shall not be lacking
from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall offer salt.
Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become
tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything,
except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
C O N C L U S I O N
SALVATION IS FREE, BUT IT IS COSTLY. IT WILL
COST US TO HAVE UNEQUAL LOVE, SERIOUSLY
PONDERING WHAT IS AT STAKE AND SERVING
GOD WITH COMMITMENT. THESE ARE THE KIND
PEOPLE JESUS SEEKS. ON THE OTHER HAND,
THOSE WHO TREAT SALVATION LIGHTLY, THE
KINGDOM OF GOD IS FAR AWAY FROM THEM. SO
LET US COUNT THE COST OF FOLLOWING JESUS
AND END UP SEEING OURSELVES AMONG GOD’S
PRECIOUS CHILDREN. GOD BLESS US ALL!!!
