    FRACTIONS AND DECIMALS

    WHAT ARE A fraction simply tells us how many parts of a


    whole we have. You can recognize a fraction by
    FRACTIONS? the slash that is written between the two numbers.
    We have a top number, the numerator, and a
    bottom number, the denominator. For example,
    1/2 is a fraction
    Improper fraction: Fractions with the
    numerator either equal to or greater than the
    denominator are called improper
    fraction. (Numerator = denominator or,
    Numerator > denominator)
    TYPES Proper fraction: Fractions whose numerators
    OF are less than the denominators are called
    proper fractions. (Numerator < denominator)
    FRACTIONS
    Mixed Fraction: A mixed fraction is the
    combination of a natural number and fraction.
    It is basically an improper fraction
    Like Fractions: The fractions which have the same denominators are
    called like fractions.
    Unlike Fractions: The fractions which have unequal denominators or
    different denominators are called unlike fractions.
    Equivalent Fractions: When two or more fractions have same result
    after simplification to they represent the same portion of the whole,
    then such fractions are equal to each other and are called equivalent
    fractions.
    WHAT ARE
    DECIMALS
     Decimal. A decimal is a fraction written in
    a special form. Instead of writing 1/2, for
    example, you can express the fraction as
    the decimal 0.5, where the zero is in the
    ones place and the five is in the tenths
    place. Decimal comes from the Latin word
    decimus, meaning tenth, from the root
    word decem, or 10.

    convert fraction
