Principle 1: Provide Multiple Means of

• Guideline 1: Provide Options for Perception

Guideline 1
• Whole group lesson is provided through a Nearpod presentation. The
presentation includes vocabulary terms with pictures. The font is easy to
read and pictures are clear.
• The video of abiotic and biotic factors provides speech, visuals, and
closed captions.
• Written definitions of vocabulary terms are provided to students through
the Nearpod presentation and in the video.
Guideline 2
• Students are building off of prior knowledge and pictures that have been
seen in previous lessons. Vocabulary terms are broken down making it
easy to understand the vocabulary terms.
• Vocabulary terms are defined by the teacher and through videos.
Vocabulary terms are also represented by pictures on the Nearpod.
• Students will independently explore the outside for abiotic and biotic
factors with multiple means for modeling the information.
Guideline 3
• Students will be using information from previous lessons. Students will
use this knowledge when exploring the outside.
• Draw it activity- students show their knowledge by circling which objects
are biotic factors
• Students will be exploring the outside documenting their findings in
different ways.
• Students will share information in small groups and think-pair-shares.

• Students have the option to show their findings in multiple ways (written,
drawn, recorded) Have use of school issued laptop and cellphone.
• Directions are provided verbally, visually, and written.

• Students have the toption of using flipgrid to present their information.
Student will use Nearpod to submit answers and collaborate in discussion
posts.
• Student can present their information in flipgrid recordings, drawings,
pictures, written out. This provides multiple means of representation.
• Immediate feedback through collaboration board from teachers and
students.

• At the beginning of the lesson objectives and goal will be gone over for
the lesson showing the purpose of learning the information.
• Students will share and talk about what they found outside that were
abiotic and biotic factors.
• Share findings with class from their exploration activity. Students receive
direct feedback.

• To incorporate this checkpoint in my lesson I could provide students with a graphic
organizer to help students with organizing their notes.
