THE STAGES OF ICT PROJECT
Social change is a way where human interactions and relationships
transform cultural and social institutions over time, having a
profound impact of society. These changes occur over time and
often have profound and long-term consequences for society.

Over the years, modern technology and the Internet are used as a
medium for advocacy and spreading of important issues to make
people aware about environment and the country where they live in.

Planning and Conceptualizing

Researching for ICT Projects,

and audience profiling

Designing and Copywriting

10
a. Planning and Conceptualizing
In this phase of planning allows the proponent of
the project to conceptualize the project in which
you are able to identify what issue or problem
you need to address and what possible platform
would be best to use.
Guided questions to answer:
• What are some advocacies for social change in the
community that you wish to emphasize or strengthen?
• What is that you want to change in your community?
11
b. Researching for ICT Project and
Audience Profiling
The team will be conducting a research on available
data about the topic. At the same time, the teams
need to research and understand the demographics
and psychographics of the target audience.
Guided questions to answer:
• Who are your target audience, users, and collaborators of this
advocacy website?
• What forms of media contents they are looking for in a web platform?
12
b. Researching for ICT Project and
Audience Profiling
Demographics are
information from
audience which includes
gender, age, marital
status and other facts. It
explains “who” your
audience is.

• Assigning people to various tasks and set
deadlines and meetings
• Listing down all applications that you need
including web apps
• Finding a web or blog host
• Creating a site map for your website
• Creating of Concept Paper
15
c. Designing and Copywriting
Guided questions to answer:
• What is your Mission? Tagline?
• How will you design the website?
• What media contents will be available in
your website?
• What do you think will motivate the intended

CONCEPT PAPER

CONCEPT PAPER

convince a panel of potential
funders to help a product,
program, or service become a
reality.

mission and vision and a brief

this project is worth your group and
your sponsor’s time, effort, and money

SAMPLE (Introduction)
For years, many students depend on the school’s drinking fountain. Aside
from saving them money, the school’s drinking fountain contains filters that
make the water safe enough to drink. But according to our research, the last
time the water was tested was about three years ago and by using the
drinking fountains around school, it is highly questionable that the water is still
safe for drinking. Our group has theorized that the natural wear-and-tear of
the drinking fountain has led to the water’s unpleasant taste. Our, group, The
Mosaic Alliance, aims to create several online sources that will help promote
the awareness of people involved about this problem and create an online
petition with the goal of improving our drinking fountains here in school.
23
SAMPLE (Purpose)
Our group aims to create Change.org petition, a Facebook
group and a blog to help achieve our goals. We will be
creating infographics and other related information
connected to the dangers of drinking unsafe water
especially at a young age. The scope of our project is to
be able to reach the school’s administration, parents,
teachers, and students to sigh our petition.
24
SAMPLE (Description & Support)
We will be requiring a week to develop this project and we will
start our promotion right after we have uploaded the website.
We will also be using our own resources so the funding for
this project will be close to none. Our expenses may only
include the printing of campaign materials and the Internet
and computer shop rentals in case we need more time
outside school ours. We will also be using services already
offered by Facebook, Blogger, Jimdo and Change.org.

constructing the identified contents
as well as the platforms to use in
the ICT Project.

27
2. DEVELOPING AN ICT PROJECT FOR
SOCIAL CHANGE
Development and Construction
• Develops and construct your group’s ICT
advocacy project.
• Divides the assigned work/tasks. Work with
the assigned task and website design.

Think of this:

As a student how will you

use ICT as an avenue for
your advocacy that may
lead to social change??
29
ACTIVITY 1 - LET’S MAKE A CHANGE, LET’S WORK TOGETHER
IN PLANNING OUR CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
DIRECTIONS:

1. Form a small group and assign your group leader and secretary to have an
organize collaboration.
2. Each group must create an online messaging platform where you can work
collaboratively. Include also your teacher.
3. The group shall identify what problems or issue in the society or in the
community that you want to take action with the help of ICT. (Some of the issues
that you may consider are Anti-Illegal drugs campaign, Animal welfare and rights,
Environmental conservation and action, DRRM information drive awareness,
Cyberbullying, Internet addiction, Infodemic, Health concerns, Game addiction
and many more). Make sure that your campaigns must be achievable over the
period of given time and that sources of data and information can be accessible.
30
ACTIVITY 1 - LET’S MAKE A CHANGE, LET’S WORK TOGETHER
IN PLANNING OUR CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
DIRECTIONS:

4. After determining the advocacy, create a concept paper on how you can
persuade your teacher regarding the movement that you wanted to happen.
Indicate in your paper on how you will integrate the rich multimedia contents
such as images, videos, article, interactive media and many more as the
contents of your campaign.
5. Assign the task of each member and create a group progress chart and indicate
the progress in each activity and the finished product.
6. The group will prepare a simple presentation applying your skills in presentation
software and coordinate with your teacher with your presentation.
7. You may refer to the rubric to see how you will be graded in this activity.
