AFFILIATE MARKETING

AND
CONTENT MARKETING
MODULE - 5
AFFILIATE MARKETING
 Affiliate marketing is an advertising model in which a company compensates third-party
publishers to generate traffic or leads to the company’s products and services. The third-party
publishers are called affiliates, and they receive a commission fee to find ways to promote
the company.
 Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing tactic in which a retailer, typically an
online one, rewards a website with a commission for each customer referred via the website’s
promotional activities. The website, often called an affiliate, will only get paid when their
promotion results in a transaction.
STEPS IN AFFILIATE MARKETING
1. Create Your Affiliate Marketing Plan
2. Select the Products You Want to Promote
3. Choose Your Affiliate Marketing Platform
4. Contact Your Affiliate Network
5. Execute Your Affiliate Marketing Plan

6. The Affiliate Partner promotes your products or services on their site

7. The consumer clicks on the Affiliate’s Ad for your product on the Affiliate’s Site and cookies
are stored on the consumer’s browser
8. The consumer is redirected to the Merchant’s Site
9. The Affiliate is paid a commission automatically as and when the consumer performs a
specific action
AFFILIATE PROGRAM PAYMENT METHODS
1. Pay Per Click (PPC): Affiliate marketing is largely about generating traffic to websites. PPC
programs focus on redirecting consumers from the affiliate’s marketing platform to the merchant’s
website. This means the affiliate must engage the consumer to the extent that they will move from the
affiliate’s site to the merchant’s site. The affiliate is paid based on the increase in web traffic to the
merchant’s website.
2. Pay Per Lead (PPL): A more complex system, pay per lead affiliate marketing program compensates
the affiliate based on the creating of leads. The affiliate must persuade the consumer to visit the
merchant’s website and complete the desired action — whether it’s filling out a contact form,
signing up for a trial of a product, subscribing to a newsletter or downloading software or files.
3. Pay Per Install (PPI): In this payout system, the affiliate gets paid each time they direct a user to the
merchant’s website and installs a product, generally a mobile app or software. So, if a retailer
budgets for a $0.10 bid for each install generated via an affiliate program, and the affiliate program
results in 1,000 installs, then the retailer will pay ($0.10 x 1,000) = $100.
4. Pay Per Sale (PPS): This is the standard affiliate marketing structure. In this program, the merchant
pays the affiliate a percentage of the sale price of the product after the consumer purchases the
COOKIE, COOKIE STUFFING
 COOKIE is a piece of data from a website that is stored within a web browser that the
website can retrieve later. Cookies are used to tell the server that users have returned to a
particular website. Cookies are small pieces of text sent to your browser by a website you
visit. They help that website remember information about your visit, which can both make it
easier to visit the site again and make the site more useful to you.

 COOKIE STUFFING (also cookie dropping) is an affiliate marketing technique in which,

as a result of visiting a website, a user receives a third-party cookie from a website unrelated
to that visited by the user, usually without the user being aware of it. Cookie Stuffing is an
illegitimate technique where a third-party drops multiple affiliate cookies on a user’s
browser, in order to claim the commission out of sales happening from that browser.

invest in social media marketing. There are a number of platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram,
Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat) to work with and several ways you can create and share content
on each of them (e.g. photos, live videos, pre-recorded videos, stories).
2. Infographic Content Marketing :
Infographics display content, information, and data in an easy-to-understand, graphic format.
With a mix of simple wording, short statements, and clear images, infographics are a great way
to effectively communicate your content. They work well if you’re trying to distill an
educational and/ or complex topic down so all audience members can understand it.
3. Blog Content Marketing :
Blogs are a powerful type of inbound content and allow for a lot of creativity in terms of their
purpose and topic. With a blog, you can do things like promote other internal and external
content and blog articles via links, add social share buttons, and incorporate product information.
4. Podcast Content Marketing:
A 2022 survey found that 49% of 12-to-32-year-olds had listened to a podcast within the
last month, with an average of six listening hours a week. For this reason, many businesses
and media outlets have begun creating and sharing their own podcasts.
5. Video Content Marketing :
According to Wyzowl research, 69% of consumers say they prefer to learn about a brand's
product or service through video. Additionally, video marketing can boost conversions,
improve ROI, and help you build relationships with audience members. You may choose to
share your video content on social media platforms, landing pages, or on a co-marketer's
website
6. Paid Ad Content Marketing :
Paid ads can help you reach a broad audience and allow you to position yourself in all of the
places you want to be seen — paid ads are especially beneficial when paired with inbound
