칼뱅주의 목사의 아들인 피터 스투이베산트(Peter Stuyvesant)[4]와 그의 가족은 뉴네덜랜드의 마지막 네덜란드 총독으로서 그의 시기로부터 생겨난 뉴암스테르담 북동부의 대지주였다.[6] 스튜이베샌트는 다음과 같이 알려져 있었다.
