Company: Kyokuichi Tokyo Movie

TMS Entertainment is an animation production company.

The origins of the company can be dated back to October of 1946 with the establishment of 旭一編織, which was a fiber manufacturer. The company went through some name changes, the most important of which was the renaming to Kyokuichi on July of 1991 after which the company diverted its focus to entertainment business.
On October of 1991, the company opened its first game center - AG Square.
On August of 1992, Kyokuichi was acquired by Sega Enterprises, becoming its subsidiary.
On November of 1995, Kyokuichi and another Sega Enterprises subsidiary - Tokyo Movie Shinsha, were merged into Kyokuichi Tokyo Movie. With this, the platform of animation was established concurrently.
On January of 2000, the company name was changed to TMS Entertainment.
On March of 2005, TMS Entertainment became a subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings.
On October of 2008, the entertainment branch (game center management) was split-up and its operations were given to manage by the company AG Square. With this, TMS Entertainment's only line of business became animation production.

The name Tokyo Movie (京ムービー) was still used as a brand/studio name, even though the company no longer existed, and it appeared in credits. Starting with the formation of TMS Entertainment in 2000, Tokyo Movie was systematically credited for Animation Work (アニメーション制作) while TMS Entertainment was credited for Production (製作). This practice has since been abandoned and Tokyo Movie can only be seen credited in Meitantei Conan, its related movies/OVAs and occasionally in other works.
