|-Follower of Jesus Christ
-Married, father of three children
-I have read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution for the united States, as well as supporting documents of the founders of this nation. I have a basic understanding of these documents and agree with the founders that government is strictly limited to enumerated powers only. I would work to pass legislation that would reduce government power in order to empower individuals.
- I hold the position that modern government is a disease masquerading as its own cure. I believe in less government, and more individual responsibility.
- I am a proponent of individual rights including the abolition of abortion, carrying of firearms without a license, individual medical freedom, and reduced/eliminated taxes.
- More important than the principles of limited government is an understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. That he was God in the flesh, that he came to this earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins for those that would call on him and trust in him alone. He did that so that we could have eternal life, and avoid an eternal punishment in hell. If enough people understood that message, than limited government would be just one positive result.
The greatest fear of big modern government is idea of becoming irrelevant. If enough people can be made aware that they can take care of themselves by themselves and through private charity at a much lower cost than the government supplied option, then they will begin to live freer lives. Ultimately, the income tax in Ohio must be abolished. People should not be punished for earning a wage to feed themselves and their families. The state's current position that it owns the labor of the individual is morally bankrupt. Without the income tax in place, much wasteful spending would be eliminated and much individual freedom restored.
Ron Paul. Ron Paul has a simple consistent message of free markets and personal liberty. I believe that people are the best judge of how to handle their own tax dollars as their own bodies, so long as they agree to leave others alone.
Exodus 18:21||Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
The core responsibility is to uphold the law of God as written in the King James Bible, followed by the US Constitution and then the Ohio constitution. With regard to man made law, Thomas Jefferson reminds us that original intent is the correct view.
The King James Bible is my favorite book because it is the word of God.
I would favor a unicameral house as well as increasing the size of the state legislature from the current 99 to as many as 400 state reps. Currently, house districts average nearly 120,000 in population. With 400 state reps, districts would be only 30,000 people in size and would allow state reps greater accountability to their constituents. I would also favor reducing the length of the legislative session and greatly reducing the salary of legislators. By reducing the session length, the common man could more easily consider holding political office, and the very concept of career state-level politicians would become untenable.
Ohio's greatest challenge is that it seeks to devour its residents and businesses via taxation. The income tax in Ohio must be abolished. Non income tax states such as Florida, Tennessee, and Texas are thriving while high tax states such as California and New York are reaping the results of their socialist policies. Ohio needs to choose: Operate at a Constitutional minimum or continue to feed an ever-hungry beast.
