So he arose and went to Zarephath and came to the gate of the city. There [was] a widow woman gathering wood, so he called to her, and he said, "Please bring a little water for me in a vessel so that I can drink." She went to fetch [it], and he called to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand." She said, "{As Yahweh your God lives}, surely I do not have a cake, {but only a handful of flour} in the jar and a little olive oil in the jug. Here I [am] gathering a few pieces of wood, and I will go and prepare it for me and my son, that we might eat it and die." read more.
Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go and do according to your word; only make for me a small bread cake from it first, and bring it out to me. Make it for yourself and for your son afterward. For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: 'The jar of flour will not be emptied and the jug of olive oil will not run out until the day Yahweh gives rain on the surface of the earth.'" So she went and did according to the word of Elijah; then [both] she and he ate with her household for many days. The jar of flour was not emptied and the jug of olive oil did not run out, according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke by the hand of Elijah.

And he took them at that [very] hour of the night [and] washed [their] wounds, and he himself was baptized at once, and all those of his [household]. And he brought them up into [his] house [and] set a meal before [them], and rejoiced greatly that he had believed in God with his whole household.

And on the next day we departed [and] came to Caesarea, and entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was [one] of the seven, [and] stayed with him. ({Now this man had} four virgin daughters who prophesied.) And [while we] were staying [there] many days, a certain prophet {named} Agabus came down from Judea.

And [after we] were brought safely through, then we found out that the island was called Malta. And the local inhabitants showed {extraordinary} kindness to us, for they lit a fire [and] welcomed us all, because of the rain that had begun and because of the cold. And [when] Paul had gathered a large number of sticks and was placing [them] on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat [and] fastened itself on his hand. read more.
And when the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they began saying to one another, "Doubtless this man is a murderer whom, [although he] was rescued from the sea, Justice has not permitted to live!" He, in turn, shook off the creature into the fire [and] suffered no harm. But they were expecting [that] he was going to swell up or suddenly to fall down dead. So [after] they had waited for a long [time] and saw nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds [and] began saying [that] he was a god. Now in the [regions] around that place were fields belonging to the chief official of the island, {named} Publius, who welcomed us [and] entertained [us] hospitably [for] three days. And it happened that the father of Publius was lying down, afflicted with fever and dysentery. Paul went to {him} and [after] praying, he placed [his] hands on him [and] healed him. And [after] this had taken place, the rest of those on the island who had diseases were coming and being healed also. They also honored us with many honors, and [when we] were putting out to sea, they gave [us] the [things] {we needed}.

It happened one day that Elisha passed through to Shunem where there [was] a wealthy woman, and she urged him to eat bread; so it happened each time he passed through, he would stop there to eat. She said to her husband, "Please now, I know that he [is] a holy man of God who is passing {our way} regularly; let us make a small enclosed room [upstairs] and put a bed, table, chair, and lampstand there for him, so that when he comes to us, he can turn and stay there.

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but [when] Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained the way of God to him more accurately. Verse Concepts

And leaving there, he entered into the house of someone {named} Titius Justus, a worshiper of God whose house was next door to the synagogue. Verse Concepts

And because [he] was practicing the same trade, he stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers by trade. Verse Concepts

And it happened that [he] stayed many days in Joppa with a certain Simon, a tanner. Verse Concepts

Let a little water be brought and wash your feet, and rest under the tree. Verse Concepts

And he said, "Behold, my lords, please turn aside into the house of your servant and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you can rise early and go on your way." And they said, "No, but we will spend the night in the square." Verse Concepts

And the man came to the house and unloaded the camels. And he gave straw and fodder to the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who [were] with him. Verse Concepts

Then the man brought the men into Joseph's house and he gave them water and washed their feet, and gave fodder to their donkeys. Verse Concepts

David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house, and wash your feet." So Uriah went out from the king's house, and a gift from the king went out after him. Verse Concepts

being well-attested by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has helped those who are oppressed, if she has devoted herself to every good work. Verse Concepts

She got up and bowed down [with] her face to the ground and said, "Here is your female servant, as a slave to wash the feet of my lord's servants." Verse Concepts

being well-attested by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has helped those who are oppressed, if she has devoted herself to every good work. Verse Concepts

Therefore the overseer must be irreproachable, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, skillful in teaching, Verse Concepts

contributing to the needs of the saints, pursuing hospitality. Verse Concepts

but hospitable, loving what is good, prudent, just, devout, self-controlled, Verse Concepts

Do not neglect hospitality, because through this some have received angels as guests without knowing [it]. Verse Concepts

[Be] hospitable to one another without complaining. Verse Concepts

greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. Verse Concepts

And Philip came down to the city of Samaria [and] began proclaiming the Christ to them. Verse Concepts

So Philip opened his mouth and beginning from this scripture, proclaimed the good news to him [about] Jesus. Verse Concepts

And immediately he began proclaiming Jesus in the synagogues: "This one is the Son of God!" Verse Concepts

[As for] the message that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ--this one is Lord of all-- Verse Concepts

explaining and demonstrating that it was necessary [for] the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and [saying], "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ." Verse Concepts

but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a cause for stumbling, but to the Gentiles foolishness, Verse Concepts

For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus [as] Lord, and ourselves [as] your slaves for the sake of Jesus. Verse Concepts

whom they stood before the apostles. And they prayed [and] placed [their] hands on them. Verse Concepts

Do not neglect the gift [that is] in you, that was granted to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders. Verse Concepts

Lay hands on no one hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. Verse Concepts

for which reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. Verse Concepts

Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom because Moses had placed his hands on him, and the {Israelites} listened to him, and they did as Yahweh had commanded Moses. Verse Concepts

And you will bring the Levites {before Yahweh}, and the {Israelites} will lay their hands on the Levites, Verse Concepts

Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is [the] spirit, and place your hand on him. Verse Concepts

But the [ones] having insight will shine like the brightness of the expanse, and [the ones] providing justice [for] the many [will be] like the stars {forever and ever}. Verse Concepts

For God [is] not unjust, [so as] to forget your work and the love which you demonstrated for his name [by] having served the saints, and continuing to serve [them]. Verse Concepts

So then, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, [because you] know that your labor is not [in] vain in the Lord. Verse Concepts

But the one who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues [to do it], not being a forgetful hearer but a doer who acts, this one will be blessed {in what he does}. Verse Concepts

For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in [my] name because you are Christ's, truly I say to you that he will never lose his reward. Verse Concepts

If anyone's work that he has built upon [it] remains, he will receive a reward. Verse Concepts
