As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, “Follow Me!” So he got up and followed Him.

Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement allow you to live in harmony with one another, according to the command of Christ Jesus,
What I am saying is this: Each of you says, “I’m with Paul,” or “I’m with Apollos,” or “I’m with Cephas,” or “I’m with Christ.”
The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And whoever doesn’t take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.

The one who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me. Where I am, there My servant also will be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
Anyone finding his life will lose it, and anyone losing his life because of Me will find it.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me and the gospel will save it.
Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
“If you want to be perfect,” Jesus said to him, “go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
Then, looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
When Jesus heard this, He told him, “You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

For you were called to this,
because Christ also suffered for you,
leaving you an example,
so that you should follow in His steps.
Then He said to another, “Follow Me.”
“Lord,” he said, “first let me go bury my father.”
Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord, but first let me go and say good-bye to those at my house.”
And a huge crowd was following Him because they saw the signs that He was performing by healing the sick.
From that moment many of His disciples turned back and no longer accompanied Him.

The one who has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father. I also will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”
So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples.
If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Marana tha that is, Lord, come!
Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ. Don’t work only while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart.
This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping His commands.
and can receive whatever we ask from Him because we keep His commands and do what is pleasing in His sight. Now this is His command: that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another as He commanded us. The one who keeps His commands remains in Him, and He in him. And the way we know that He remains in us is from the Spirit He has given us.
These are the ones not defiled with women, for they have kept their virginity. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. They were redeemed from the human race as the firstfruits for God and the Lamb.
